The hotel was very nice and the best part is you can enjoy the hotels around it for free. There are many nice restaurants with great food. There is Italian and Argentinian restaurants and the service is great (they open wine bottles just for you). I could enjoy myself shopping while I left my kids at the day-care center. It was great; the staff took the kids to eat and to swim so I didn't feel so bad for leaving them. This was just a great trip with my family, I enjoyed it soo much, especially the price. In total I paid $1,300 for 12 people, all inclusive :) It was great!

We have stayed at the El Cid Granada three times now. We love that the hotel has a mini kitchen area that we can make breakfast in and keep cold drinks. We also love the fact that the pool area is quiet. If you want the beach and more pools you only have to walk across the street to their sister hotel which is free for you to use. If you get the all inclusive you have the best of both worlds.
Be sure to ask for an upgraded room and one that is not near the pizza place out front. The smoke from the grill mkes it impossible to sit on the deck at night.

We stayed at the El Cid Granada for a week in August. The staff are all incredibly helpful. Nestor at the front desk/bell stand was a standout and helped us with everything from recommending places to eat, getting us transportation and bringing in our groceries. We had three families from the US all staying for a family reunion. The ages ranged from 3 - 73 and everyone had a great time! The pool over at the El Cid across the street is gorgeous and we spent most of our time there, but the pool at the Granada was smaller and much more peaceful. A great place for an evening or early morning swim! The rooms are a bit outdated in their furnishings and decor, but very spacious and comfortable. We never felt cramped or experienced a lack of privacy. The restaurants were good too, especially El Patio for dinner. Tranquil atmosphere and delicious steaks. I would highly recommend the Granada for its value and service. We also really enjoyed the wildlife on the resort--my 8 year-old twin nephews had a great time looking for the iguanas!

This hotel is badly in need of some renovation. It appears some upgrading is in the works, but overall the hotel is in a state of semi-disrepair. I had planned to spend three nights at this hotel in Mazatlan, but checked out after one night. It was so hot and humid, the a/c just could not keep up with the overwhelming heat and humidity. I was physically uncomfortable during my 24 hours there. Generally speaking, summer isn't the time to vacation in this humid soaked climate. Even though the staff were helpful and congenial, there was little they could do to compensate. In good conscience, I could not recommend this hotel to anyone other than the individuals who are trying to
save a few dollars.

Room Tip: Keep asking for a more upgraded room even if it costs you a few dollars more.

Dear maltasr

Thank you for your positive feed back regarding our hotel staff and their willingness to be of help. We also appreciate your sharing your comments regarding our facilities. As you noticed, our hotel is undergoing a complete remodeling which, when finished, will result in state of the art room accommodations for our guests. We're sincerely sorry to hear that your stay was not as pleasant as you expected. We strive to ensure that all our guests have a very pleasant experience and, if we fail, we want to make it right.

While the weather can be somewhat unpredictable in late summer, we sincerely hope you have the opportunity to visit Mazatlan at another time of the year in the future, and when that happen, I will appreciate if you contact me directly to assign you one of our remodeled rooms and to make sure you have a memorable vacation.

Like I had read on other reviews, the service was outstanding! Every time we needed something, there was someone there to help. Whether it was drinks, a snack, a taxi, a crib.. all of our needs were met immediately. A BIG thanks to NESTOR who taught me a little Spanish while helping with our bags, answering questions and just being an all around terrific, helpful guy.

The room was HUGE but definitely older and in need of renovation. We had two joined rooms with one king bed, two double beds and a kitchen. Plenty of space for our family of five. The kitchen was well stocked with a microwave, blender, toaster oven, toaster and coffee maker, dishes and silverware.

The location was great in that it was very quiet. We were away from the beach and all of the action but could easily get there by crossing the pedestrian bridge. All of the action was at the Castilla and we spent much of our time there. The pools were large and a lot of fun for kids of all ages. It took me 5 days to get up enough nerve to jump off the "cliff" into the pool. The swim-up pool bars were great and with Happy Hour twice per day, there was never a time we went without drinks (Thanks Felix!)

I had heard from friends and family that Mazatlan was a dangerous place to be. But the hotel had security everywhere and we never felt unsafe. Ever.

We had a terrific stay. I would definitely recommend this hotel for families However, I would like to see more of a lifeguard presence. We would see them doing lifeguard drills in the morning, but there rarely seemed to be lifeguards around during the day. The lifeguard stands were empty most of the time. Water safety was just not up to U.S. standards and therefore, I watched my kids closely when they played in the water (which is a good idea anyway).

Room Tip: Get rooms closer to the lobby for quicker access to the beach. Otherwise, it is a long walk.

I would like to thank you for taking the time to post a review on Tripadvisor. We are so glad to read that your stay with us was fantastic and enjoyed of all the aspects of the hotel. In regards to the excellent service provided by our staff, I agree with you, all of them are always committed to attend our guest´s needs, and to make you have a very pleasant stay, they are aware that they are an asset to this company, We are delighted as well, to know that the spacious and well equipped room was to your liking, we always think in our guest´s comfort; concerning your comment, I would like to share with you that we still continue with a renovation program in order to provide you even more highest standards of quality in facilities and service.

It is nice to hear, that you visited some other properties from El Cid, such as, El Cid Castilla Hotel, and where you and your kids enjoyed of the big pools, as you experienced, guests from all ages have fun with the activities in this area. By the other hand, for El Cid Resorts it is our major priority our guest´ safety, for that reason our lifeguard team monitors each one of the pools and beach in order to avoid any accident, however we appreciate your observations and be assured that we will reinforce that activity.

Your recommendation to other is much appreciated, we sincerely hope to be honored in serve you again. We will be waiting for you with open arms.
