“Home Away from Home”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 9, 2012

My husband Brad and I and our dog Buddy stayed at Captain Moe's while driving from Denver to our new home in Sayulita, Nayarit, Mexico. We got turned around in town and Moe came to give us a personal escort. It was heaven for us to have such wonderful hospitality especially after so many days on the road. The courtyard is lovely and quiet and we felt as though we were staying with old friends the minute we walked in. Moe was quick to offer an icy cold beer while we relaxed after a long day on the road. We will stay again when we make the trip to the States again, but in the meantime, we'll be telling all our friends and family to stay here when they go to Mazatlan. Thank you Moe, Dorothy and Zoe!

“What a Treat”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 10, 2012

The best beds in Mazatlan! Moe and Dorothy make guests feel as though they are staying with family or close friends. We live not far away, but enjoy a night or two in town on occasion, and Capt. Moe's is a highlight of our mini-vacations. Sitting in the lovely courtyard on a beautiful Mexican evening, visiting with good friends -- doesn't get better.

“A real treat, in many ways”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 2, 2012

We live in Mexico and enjoy two homes, one on the nw coast and one in the precise center in Guanajuato. Mazatlan and capt moes is smackin the middle of our two day drive between casas so we elect to stay with the capt and Dorothy and break up the drive, enjoy an excellent, accommodation, southern hospitality south of the border, a great location for walking and dining. We cannot be higher in our praise . Look at that 95% almost perfect rating score, ,it and the capt. Speak for the, selves. We will see yo agin in June. Mil gracias

“The Opposite of Plain”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 26, 2012

My dad came down to visit in February and stayed, for the second time, at Captain Moe's. Barring a nuclear winter or zombie apocalypse, I think he will be back.

Moe's is more B&B than hotel, more natural than sterile, and more social than anonymous. Wireless internet and laundry were included, and the download speed was pushing 10 Mbps, so that solves a few problems right there. If you're not from around here, you can ask them anything and get a clear and independent answer, something that's hard to find at a hotel of any price.

It's not decorated as a hotel, certainly watering that many plants would drive the maids insane in a full size hotel. It's like a really comfortable terrace/garden in the communal areas, and there's only a handful of rooms so communal often means just yours.

Breakfast and coffee is a big plus, as are the people providing it. Just friendly and intelligent and kind, not a complicated formula nor need it be. If this sounds good to you, you won't be disappointed.

“wonderful stay...relaxing and interesting”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 21, 2012

My wife and I had a great relaxing stay at Captain Moe’s this past February. Superb hospitality, as noted in other postings. We didn’t feel anxious about wandering around Mazatlan at all. We bicycled, walked and bused around all areas of the town and never once felt unsafe. The reports of violence are misleading...as one expert commented, “the Beach is not the Border”.
I recommend a stay at Moe and Dorothy's as a great antidote to the bleak Canadian midwinter blues syndrome.
