“Wonderful Week”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 20, 2012

We had a very relaxing stay. The weather was wonderful. The food could of been better, not too impressed. Did not go into town on the bus as it is a hassle. Love the loungers that each room has. We would recommend this resort.

Room Tip: All rooms have ocean view. Try for at least the 3 rd floor for a view above the palm trees.

“So far to go, not much to get”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed November 19, 2012

I was deluded with my 4 days stay in this hotel. Luxury begining in the front gate, beautiful and clean tropical garden, harbouring even flamingos, king size swiming pool, countless buildings with rooms and suites of any kinds, tennis courts, and so on.
But my 80 square meters suite was dark, with no view over the near sea, with no balcony, not a place to stay and enjoy twilight, no heart. Useless kitchen, narrow windowed living room and dining room.
When outside in the garden, not a restaurant to have food at 4 pm, only tiny bars featuring drinks and peanuts far from the sea shore. The beach is cut off the hotel resort and useless.
As always in Mexico, this is the very positive point, staff is very warmfull; all your requests will be answered quickly and efficiently with a smile, but inside the hotel organization limits, of course. Seashore is not breathtaking.
This hotel is typically done for people with mechanical time schedule, enjoying swiming pool all over the day. Not a bit of fantasy.

Room Tip: Check very carefully room location on hotel map as there are huge diferences from a building to an o...

“Outstanding resort”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 15, 2012

All have ocean views. The resort is beginning to show some aging, but we find there is on-going painting and cleaning. For owners there is always the attempt to get one to "upgrade" and great caution is advised as the sales information is subject to pinning down the details and then to verify. For non-owners, the same suggestion is advised. All resorts in Mexico have the tendency to promise that which is later found to be inaccurate. That being said, we greatly enjoy Mazatlan and this wonderful facility.

Room Tip: All have ocean views. Higher rooms are quieter and give a better view of the Pacific Ocean.

“Going down hill year by year”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed November 8, 2012

The only thing that Pueblo Bonito staff are interested in is selling new timeshares or getting owners to invest more. An arriving guest has to maneuver through a horde of chattering sales people to check in and then are accosted again after they are while their bags are moved through the lobby to the back for transportation to the rooms.

Why do that when the place is going downhill. The TVs are ancient, the couches are sub-par, the food is just okay, the reception is lousy, the grounds are not properly maintained and the level of service has degenerated since they let go 25% of their staff. The staff who is there try hard but you can tell they are all overworked and the stress is getting to them.

The beach even though you cannot swim in it is beautiful, the pool is nice except for weekends when it fills up with hundreds of kids. It seems they are encouraging a class of clientele who pack the rooms to capacity and then spend the whole weekend grabbing lounge chairs at 6:00am. There is a policy to not let this happen but it is never enforced.

The spa is beautiful but way over priced. A massage at the spa is $100 and in town about $25. Our local high end fitness center has a massage for $75. The no show penalty and 24 hour appointment requirement plus high prices made it totally undesirable as an experience.

My advice is if you get a good deal, take it, but do not spend 5 star money on a 2 star service resort.

“True tranquility”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

A great hotel with helpful staff and very good service. Best of all if you buy the all-inclusive you can use both hotels (the other being closer to downtown) also eat at both places without reservations. The only bad part is the beach has much rocks so you have to be careful not child friendly. Overall if you want to relax from everything a very good retreat to get away from all the noise and just enjoy your drinks!
