We did the zipline tour yesterday and I have to say, it was an all around excellent experience.
First of all, the ziplining itself was great! I was nervous for this because 'rides' and heights arre not my favourite, but ziplining did not fit into either category. You barely notice the height you are at because you are looking forward (or in some people's cases, upside down..). Even then, the trees are so tall that it doesn't seem like you are up as high as you are. And there is no free free falling feeling. For those who are a bit more thrill seeking, you can hang upside down with no hands and my boyfriend tells me that is truly exhilarating.
The guides were also excellent. They start you out on small ziplines and gradually work you up on longer ones. They launch you and catch you at the beginning and end of each zipline and tell you what you need to know for each one. This is the longest zipline in Mazatlan with 12 lines. Also, there is hardly ANY walking involved, so good for those who just want to walk.
We also did the river tour, which was essentially kayaks pulling tubes in a fast moving river. Very fun!, and quite the experience. You get to see such beautiful scenery and wildlife. They offered this to us after we were done the ziplining but it was so well worth it. If you are interested in this, bring your bathing suit and waterproof shoes! As you will be getting wet.
I would take preteens + on this trip, even people in their senior years could handle the ziplining/walking.
On the way to the ziplines, they stop and you get real Mexican empinadas for 6 pesos! Which are cooked in a real wood burning stove.
Some things to keep in mind:
- The trip is $50, excellent value for the money! I know the other ziplining trip is $75 and I really don't see how the extra $25 could improve the experience at all. All the money from this trip went directly to the friendly locals of the little village of Verando
-I don't think all inclusive resorts have a deal with this company, so if you want them, you need to ask your the person who books your tour specifically for them.
-Bring tipping money for the driver, the tour guides, and the food, as the towns people cook you such a delicious traditional Mexican meal, they deserve a tip. Also, I have severe nut allergies and could eat this meal.
-The tour is very safe and not once did we feel shortcuts were taken or that our safety was compromised.
