We stayed at Mariana Beach Apartments & Hotel for 2 months in 2010...from January 15 until March 15 and enjoyed our stay immensely. Verneen and Alfredo were terrific hosts and the staff couldn't be beat! We had a great time and a lot of it is thanks to Verneen and Alfredo. Mary and Bob are very sweet and make wonderful co-hosts for Mariana.

The rooms are great and the atmosphere is very cozy. It is like visiting family when you get to know everyone. We couldn't have had a better holiday anywhere else.

Verneen and Alfredo are a very helpful and friendly couple and went out of their way to accomodate us and make our vacation one that we will always remember.

Our hats are off to you all at Mariana and look foward to visiting with you again in 2011!

We travel to Maz at least once a year. We have been stayng at the Costa but have tried renting apts, etc. The first time we rented to Marianas was probably 10 years ago. A relative came to MAZ and we put her up there. Rooms were in need of repair but the owners were gracious and we just needed a place for her to sleep. around 5 years ago, we stayed there. No AC in our room but we did get a breeze. Finally, we tried again last year. This time, we requested a room with kitchen and AC. Alfredo and Verneen are still in the process of upgrading the rooms, but we found the rooms freshly painted and clean. the applicances were adequate. Verneed and Alfredo responded quickly to our requests. It's in a great spot and a bit cheaper that the Costa (next door) and other resort Hotels. We had a great time and it felt like we were staying with family. Not fancy, but comfortable.

I stumbled upon this hotel a few years ago and thought it was a great value. (used to be Bugambilias) The new owners Verneen and Alfredo are amazing! She is Canadian and he is from Maz. The rooms are upgraded and clean, the staff is very friendly and the other guests are mostly repeat visitors who stay for months at a time. Many rooms have kitchens (fully equipped and if there is something missing Vern and Alfredo will lend from their own suite!) and all have tv. Once a week there is a potluck BBQ for any interested guests. The atmosphere is so warm and friendly that it feels like I am visiting family! In the past, I have travelled with a friend but this time had no problems alone. Spent time on the patio with other guests playing cards, drinking coffee and reading. There is a collection of books and games that are there for everyone. There is also a rooftop patio open to all guests. If you can, request the rooftop bungalow with a thatched roof! The hotel is not quite on the beach as there is a house in between but you can see the beach and the ocean from the roof. If you need a blanket, chair or umbrella for the beach just ask! Alfredo will probably volunteer to carry it down for you. Be advised though, that the bar across the street Gus Y Gus plays live music every night from 8-1. It gets a bit loud if you are an early to bed type but just turn on the airconditioner or bring ear plugs and it's all good! Even better, go across and enjoy some american style rock and roll and giant lethal margaritas! Drop by Mr. Coco's, the restaurant downstairs (not run by Vern and Alfredo) and try the huevos moltulenos for breakfast. Say hi to the parrot that whistles to all the ladies going by!

We spent several weeks in Mazatlan. We had the good fortune of finding the very reasonably priced Mariana Beach Hotel and Apartments right in the heart of the Golden Zone.
The furnished apartment with a kitchen, daily housekeeping, wireless internet, tv and a nice patio was just steps from the beach making surf fishing and beach bumming very convenient. There was also a book exchange so you can you can relax on the beach under the umbrella the hotel has available to the guests.
Verneen and Alfredo (the owners) were such delightful hosts. They will go way above and beyond to help you find the whale watching tour, or recommend just the right place to eat, or even arrange the hairdresser to come to you!
There is a restaurant downstairs if you don't feel like cooking (or need advice on which bus to take).
There was always something fun going on at the hotel. Frequent "pot luck" style cookouts, guest outings, and relaxing on the rooftop in the evening.
It was easy to understand why most of the other guests had stayed there before and plan to return.
We didn't get to practice Spanish very much while I was in Mazatlan, English seems to be the primary language of the city. We hope to return soon.
