“Noisy but friendly”

We wanted a 2nd honeymoon, and had not been to Mazatlan before. We were woken up every night by noisy neighbors (College students, children, adults). The regulars say they just put in ear plugs and keep going. The staff are great, and the breakfast has great American and Mexican quisine. Free web access at computer in office. Next time we'll spring for something quieter and closer to the beach.

I was very pleased to find this nice motel so close to the night clubs and walking distance to the beach, that also had a bar and pool! The price is very reasonable, and the staff was very helpful and friendly. I will definitely stay here again, and recommend it to any students or budget minded travelers.

“Good Value”

Azteca Inn

We stayed at the Azteca for two weeks in January 2006, as part of a package deal from Vancouver. The Azteca is good value as included in the package. It is a motel style hotel located in the heart of the Zona Dorada. It is not ocean front, but is within easy walking distance of many restaurants and beachfront hotels. The hotel is three stories surrounding the parking lot and small pool. Rooms on the top floor away from the pool are quieter, although the hotel was generally quiet at night. I didn't even need to wear earplugs! The room and bathroom were quite large, and the TV has english language stations. The room was basic and clean. We saw no bugs anywhere in the hotel. The staff were all cheerful and helpful. The restaurant is especially good for breakfast and is very busy with locals as well as tourists.

“Great Hotel, Would stay here everytime!”

This was a great budget hotel. It is right in the middle of everything! The hotel was clean, the staff was great and the rooms were a really good size. It is right across the street from the beach. You can only get to the nice beaches from the beach front resorts but the hotels gives you free tickets to go to thier beaches and pools (although no one ever checked for them). It is in the middle of the shopping and restaurants and a few blocks from the clubs. They offer you a package deal when you get there, I would definetly suggest doing it but you might want to look around first because you can get it a little cheaper somewhere else. Also, they are one of the few hotels that do not raise thier prices during Semana Santa. If you are just looking for a fun getaway, this is the place to go.

“I'd go back”

Azteca Inn

The Azteca Inn was exactly what my family (couple + 2 young kids) wanted: it's clean, it has a pool, it’s walking distance from a large number of eateries, it's a very short walk to the beach and it’s a short cab ride from downtown.

The service was fine and the staff were friendly.

In some ways, the Azteca is more a motel than a hotel. The building surrounds a central parking lot, which was quite full during our visit. It has a pool with a jacuzzi, but lacks the sorts of amenities on offer at bigger, more swank establishments (i.e. no tennis court, sauna, gym, etc.). But we didn't need or want any of that stuff, and the Azteca served our needs perfectly.
