My family of 4 stayed at the Torres from Dec 26th 07-Jan 03-08.
This was our first trip to Mexico all together and hopefully we will continue to have more travels together.
The Torres came to us thru an exchange from another timeshare and it turned out to be a good trip.
The resort was great.
The reception people were very friendly and welcomed us home. There was another guest there that had been waiting to meet us as he saw our name on the bulletin board for incoming guests. We were asked which building we would like to be in. that was a nice surprise as we thought they would just assign us one. Looking back I wished I would have asked to see it. The room was fine, but it didn't get any sunshine, and I about froze. We were told it was a cold snap going on. Brrrrrrr! They were right.
The restaurant staff was most helpful and funny, and the food was great. I liked the tortilla soup.
There were lots of activites each day to keep you and small people busy. Shuffleboard courts, tennis courts, ping pong,
There was also a walking trail, Big bbq area. Beautiful pool, and of course a delightful ocean view, and lots of people watching.I will go back again when i know the weather will be warmer for me.

We were married on Saturday and in Mazatlan on Sunday for a 6 day honeymoon. My Mom gave us her timeshare trade from Interval International. Given the timeshare only 3 months before our wedding limited our choices but we felt the Torres Mazatlan best suited our tastes.

We arrived by taxi and were immediately greeted and told, "Welcome home!" a least a half dozen times. I liked it. Upon checking in we went up to our room and were absolutely amazed by the size of it. Then the front desk called 5 minutes later and told us that we were given the wrong room. Nuts. We went to the second room and were amazed by the smell of it. After looking around for 5 minutes I located a patch of ceiling that looked like it had been plastered over a dozen times. I called the front desk and received another room after bugging the front desk girl for a few minutes. The third room had no smell and the best view of all the rooms. It was still larger than any of the other timeshares we had been to. My only complaint about the room was the slightly run down looking bathrooms. Fortunately there was a note posted on the door about bathroom renovations that would be taking place during our stay. The next morning at 10:30 we were awakened by the sounds of drilling as promised.

Besides the room issues, the resort was great. The food at the restaurant was fantastic. It's a shame it closed at 8pm with the bar staying open only slightly later. I would advise ordering drinks directly from the bartender as the ones we received pool side were a bit weak. The beach that the Torres is on is fantastic. The vendors were a bit annoying. Torres Mazatlan is located about 8 miles from the Golden Zone and 5 miles for the nearest ATM. I would advise stocking up on pesos before going to the hotel.

Torres Mazatlan seemed like it was half empty with plenty of beach and pool side chairs to go around. Probably because of the scorching heat which didn't really bother my wife and I as we dressed sparsely and tried to hang out in the pool as much as possible. The crowd seemed like young families or retirees. We stayed September 9th to the 15th.

We stayed at Torres Mazatlan through our timeshare Vacation Internationale and were there from Aug. 13th - 19th. We have never been to Mexico before so we did not know what to expect and the first thing my son said when we walked off the plane was "Mexico is HOT!!!". That is a understatment in August. It is VERY hot and Humid but as long as you stayed by the pool or the ocean we did not realize how hot it was....the breeze cooled us down and made for a wonderful time. I was there with my hubby, 3 kids (2 1/2, 5, and 8yrs old), and my mom. From the moment of arriving the staff made you feel at home and even welcomed us home. Once we walked into our 5th floor 2bdrm condo we realized we were home!! The room was soo huge! Full kitchen, living room, and eating nook that opens up to a sliding glass door out to the lanai on one end of the room and down a long hall was a large bathroom and 2 bdrms. The master bdrm had it's own huge bathroom. The bdrm windows overlooked the parking lot but also had a gorgeous view of the mountain side, and the lanai overlooked the whole grounds....pool and ocean view. We were were in awe when we walked in the room and everything was clean and well maintained. The furniture was very comfortable and there was A/C which you really appreciated in Aug.!!! The kitchen was stocked with everything needed to cook and I would recommend going to Gigante to stock up on food because it can get expensive if you eat in the restaurante every night (even though the meals there are great too!). The beds in the bedroom felt like they were LARGER then king size beds, it was awsome. They only thing we noticed with our room was that there were little tiny ants on the kitchen counters so wash up and clean everything after each meal.
The one ammenity that we absolutly loved was the activities desk. With having kids there it was wonderful. They had something going on everyday for the kids. They did a watermelon eating contest, dart throwing contest, mini golf tournament, fruit hunt on the grounds, water volleyball tournament, innertube races, and of coarse BINGO!! We had a ball. We spent everyday all day in the pool where we were cool and the kids could play and have fun and of coarse the beach is RIGHT there, you can see it while your in the pool. The last person that posted said that the pool was overrun with kids.....there is no way that there were that many kids in the pool all day ...maybe 10 - 15 and the little one's mainly stayed in the wading pool section. To tell you the truth, whether your in the pool or laying beside the pool you can hear the ocean and the waves, and also the waterfall that is in the pool itself and that drowns our the noise that the kids are making. Everyone is there on vacation and you should expect children wherever you go.

There was hardly anyone on the beach but the water was warm and it was nice to walk in and let the waves hit your body. Be prepared for the beach vendors though. If you don't want anything then don't even look at them. they are everywhere and if you don't know a stitch of spanish then you should learn how to say "no thank you" IN spanish before you go.

Summer is usually the time when mexican families vacation there so almost everyone there only spoke spanish. We did meet 2 families that were from the Seattle area though and had a good time talking to them. Everyone there is really friendly and with all the ammenities there is really no reason to leave the resort property! We only left 3 times....onces to go shopping at Gigante, once to go to the golden zone for shopping, and the last time for a tour to Stone Island.

Stone Island. First of all, always book ANY tours directly through the resort. They go through King David Tours which you travel by a luxurious Airconditioned bus and are greeted by really friendly people who speak english. I booked through a tour company online and they sub-contracted me out to "Playa Sur Tours". Bad BAd Bad. Always go through the resort and I do not recommend Stone Island AT ALL. You can do all the activities on the beach in front of the resort or go down a short distance to El Cids.

All in all, we had the best time at Torres Mazatlan and it was the most relaxing vacation we've ever had. The kids loved the activities and the pool every day and they were so tired at the end of the night that they fell into bed with no problem and we got to have adult time sitting out on our lanai.

Have a great time!!

We stayed for 6 nights early in August. This is the time of year that the Mexican families go to Mazatlan on vacation. The front desk staff was very nice, the grounds are beautiful, the food was okay (very inconsistant, different cooks I think, sometimes it was excellent, sometimes so-so). Being so far north of town the beach was mostly quiet, which was very nice. We had a 2 bedroom on the 5th floor. The beds were comfy and all the amenities were there, but it could have been cleaner; the bathroom and kitchen in particular. The outside of the toilet was very drippy for instance. The maid stole a few cosmetic items of mine while cleaning (we only had the place cleaned 1 time). Other than that my biggest complaint is that there were always at least 25-30 kids in the pool at ALL TIMES! This made it impossible to lay by the pool and relax. There wasn't a pool time for adults only. The restuarant is supposed to close at 9-9:30, but closed as early as 8 a couple nights. The bar was even closed by 9. This was an inconvience for us. Perhaps during the American tourist season the place isn't so overrun with little kids and is more peaceful, I don't know. Honestly I wouldn't return.

For the 3rd year in a row we rocked Mazatlan! We were greeted by first name by the reception staff because we are "regulars!" "Welcome home" they said. Were else do you get that kind of treatment? We know the employees too that's what makes Torres, is the people. And the activities of course; Rudy and Francis are there with kids and adult activities of all kinds this year I did the water aerobics! Some of theses employees have been there 10 to 20 years! Don't miss Ismael's drink balancing act or bingo with Rudy B-9!!!!!!! Salud, salud, salud!

As far as the resort goes it is at the north end of town at Playa Cerritios. I like being far away from the hubub of downtown and the golden zone. But those are just an 80 cent (8 pesos) air-condition ride away on the Sabalo-Cerritos bus. No need to take the pulmonias (open-air taxis) all the time, just when you are loaded down with shopping bags!

The resort is beautiful and the rooms are spacious. I mean big. Anything you need will be taken care of right away. They have expanded the restaurant to a bar patio area that catches the ocean breezes! Since the construction next door has run off most of the iguanas who used to sunbathe there they have moved to the rocks by the pool. You can get up close and personal with out having to trek to the jungle! We've been to Mazatlan so many times, but there is always something new to do and new friends to meet. We have made some life-long friend there tourist and employees alike! Go to Torres you will be glad you did....
