We haven't been to all of the Fiesta/Fiesta Americana's in Mexico, but this one could use a remodel. I had reserved a suite online, but since we arrived during the Semana de la Moto (motorcycle rally week) after Semana Santa, the suite was already taken. It saved us some money to stay in a standard room and they didn't charge us for the extra person which was considerate of them. We were also given a room on the "Platinum floor" which made me realize that I shouldn't worry too much about making Platinum with FA as the rooms were identical- the only difference being the free water and coffee outside and better view. Despite the aged facility, the staff is super-attentive and very nice. We had breakfast in the morning for 4 which was very good (great omelets). If my kids would rate this, they would have given it 5 stars as this was the first hotel out of 100 or so we stayed in that had real ceramics for crafts. You may have seen pre-fired ceramics that you paint with water-based paint and if you're lucky they spray it with shellac; well not here. There's a guy who sets up a table of fun ceramics by the pool each day, and then takes the ceramics to be fired that night. What blew my kids away was that he added the black dividing lines between colors to each of their ceramics which gives the ceramics a professional look. So for those of you who want a real ceramic keep-sake to take home, this is the place to go.
