Had a great week at Costa de Oro! You can tell that the staff are interested in making sure that all of your needs are met. This is not a fancy hotel, but it is comfortable and clean.
The food is good and the service is excellent. Ask Hector to do some bar tricks for you.

Looking forward to returning next year!

Stayed here for one night. The staff seems friendly, and the location is amazing. However, the room we stayed in was not all that great. It had a smell of humidity from within. And the beds aren't the most comfortable. Also, even though you have to pay for wireless internet, the connection was pretty sloppy and I had problems going online when I was in my room. It's a give-and-take kinda deal. You have to be realistic with certain expectations if you want to save some bucks when staying at this beach front hotel. That's the sad tradeoff...

We were here 2 weeks ago and stayed for 7 nights in what is considered the "newer building". The room was good size and the view of the ocean was wonderful! However, the room could use some updating and attention. The first room we checked into had an ant problem so the front desk transferred us to another room. This room not only had ants but also cockroaches. My husband slept on the couch because the bed was so hard. The bedding and pillows were pretty worn, as well. The staff could be friendlier and the elevator was in need of service (it failed to open one morning when we took it to the ground floor. After that, we used the stairs to avoid future problems with it). The place could potentially be nice if the owners just did some updating and servicing.

Room Tip: Best views are in the tower facing the beach.

We spent 3 nights at Costa de Oro before relocating over to The Inn, and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Costa. The resort (more so, the room) was a bit tired, but it was spacious, clean and everything worked fine. Not as "fancy" as The Inn, but the atmosphere is less stuffy (The Inn has an older clientelle.) The wait staff down by the pool and the palapa bar sure do work hard, and they became our friends within a day!

Not my first visit to the Costa de Oro...but glad to be back. As I have written in the past... its not the newest of hotels in the Golden Zone.. but the service.. the view and its location still make it a first choice for me. The staff are amazing... trustworthy... never any fear of leaving things in your room. Good internet which is something very important to me. Have checked out several other hotels on the strip... but few have the ocean view you get at the Costa. A clear view of the ocean..the islands out front... no tall neighbouring hotels blocking your view. For me.. you come to Mazatlan to enjoy seeing and hearing the ocean nearby.. see the awesome sunsets.. so you get all that here. Bank across the street to get money.. XOX convenience store open 24/7... bus connections all right out front. And best of all.. no pesky Time share people bugging you in the hotel. Definitely a good choice for your stay.

Room Tip: For the few dollars extra... go for an ocean view suite... garden view rooms are along the side and...

Back this year in Mazatlan and frequent visit the pool. Poncho is a great and friendly waiter, with good English. Happy hour is great with their 2 x 1 for all drinks. We snacks and lunch prices are among the best on the beach. If you like bingo, they have that at the pool most days.

We are owners at the Costa de Oro and there is no other place we would want to stay when in Mazatlan. The damage from the hurricane in September has all been repaired - the lower restaurant has been redone and looks amazing and the food served at the Costa is very good. The wait staff at the restaurant and pool are amazing, they are there to serve in a most pleasant way. The front desk staff, bell boys, cleaning gals and everyone are so accommodating and really friendly. The pool is heated and enjoyed by young old alike. The Costa is beach side- lots of shopping within blocks and should you care to eat away from the Costa there are really a lot of good restaurant nearby. The internet needs updating as do the majority of the rooms - if you are expecting five star, the Costa is not for you. If you go during the Carnival or at Easter - expect BIG crowds and noise - fun, fun, fun.
