“One night”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 12, 2014

We had to have a place to stay one night after our rental ran out and we picked oceano palace prior to our arrival. There is a ton of construction going on, but it needs an upgrade to keep up with the demand of the golden zone. One day was enough at this time to stay. Once construction is done it will be beautiful! We still had a great time in the sun by the pool. We had great poolside service too. We were well taken care of. The price was right too. Also the bellhop was amazing and even got our taxi right on the money the next day. If you decide to book check on where they are on construction, otherwise i would stay again!

I thought I knew what bad was! Ho my god I dint. I stayed at this hotel last weekend and what a nightmare. I was with a group of friends who stayed at the same hotel as we booked together. As we were driving down the street approaching the place we were having fun saying yea! what if that piece of ? was our hotel, hahahaha! this is the hotel a friend said! The place was full of construction debris all over the place, holes on the walls, concrete fell on one of my friends. I still can not believe someone will be renting rooms at a place like this. I will publish my pictures for you guys to judge. I was reading other members reviews and I must say I'm really surprised they say service is good. I say this because one of the rooms we rented was never serviced! I went to the front desk to complain about it and they said, "Well were under construction and our maids do what they can" Hahahaha! what a joke!
Another guy in my group had no toilet paper on his room, it was in the afternoon so we stopped by the front desk to let them know so they could replenish or send the maid to bring in some, instead the front desk person goes to an office in the back and gets a roll of toilet paper???? What? we asked! My friend said we are going out? They just said well when you get back you can pick it up. !unbelievable!
Trust me when I say this, if there was no room anywhere else I would rather stay in the beach or on a park! This is the worst hotel I have ever stayed at, service is poor as in no other place I have been in. Stay away from this hole on the wall!

Beautiful hotel directly on the beach. Great rooms, service etc, but major major remodeling being done during the day time hours. Can't even sit by the pool. Not sure how long it will last but it is not pleasant. Would not have booked it, if I knew this.

Spent two weeks in a fourth floor oceanview room and found it to be mostly enjoyable. Rooms are clean, staff is friendly, bands are a bit loud on the weekends but stop at a reasonable hour the beds are very firm and barely long enough for my 6'2". The balcony sliding door was very hard to open due to the salt air having ruined the bearings on the rollers, but we were able to get out and sit and enjoy the view. Saw grey whales, dolphins and lots of seabirds from our room. First couple days the restaurant was difficult due to a honey bee invasion, no real danger, but you had to keep shooing them away. Exterminators found the nest and got rid of it so that problem was cured. Beach was great, water was warm and clean and the grounds were well kept. The rooms are somewhat spartan, but that is normal for Mexican hotels. You can get a bit of a feel of real Mexico there rather than the US style hotels. Arrived on Constitution day and it was crowded, the weekend we left, there was a marathon so it was full again, weekdays, only half full. Staff were all polite and friendly. Would go there again.

Room Tip: Ocean view rooms are nicer, but you get the noise from the band in the restaurant.

We are always treated so well when visiting here. The staff is the very best of all the places we go. The beach is wonderful, the pool is great. There is not a better place to relax and enjoy the sun water and great people. The food is also a big plus. Would advise anyone it is the best deal for your dollars!!

Room Tip: Ocean view, high floor.

The worker´s service at the hotel is excellent. The cleaning service, waitress, hostess at the restaurant excellent, but the reception service is awful.
Since the first day we got to the hotel, the person who received us did it with a bad attitude (Mr. Damian Calderon). We got to the hotel before the check in hour and he just told us that it wasn’t the hour for checking yet, it wasn´t until one of the workers at the hotel realized we were waiting that he offered to keep our luggage safe until we could check in and he also suggested us to get before the check hour since it hour rooms will probably be ready by then. We did as told, we had lunch outside the hotel and we got early to try if we could check in, and again Mr. Calderon, very aggressively told us that the rooms weren´t ready and whoever told us that we could check in early was lying…then he checked his paperwork and told us with certain attitude “the rooms are ready now”.
Next day, we went for breakfast and we realized Mr. Calderon didn’t checked us in correctly, since he didn´t registered our rooms had breakfast buffet included nor we were 5 people not 4, so we had to explain that several times to the people at the restaurant as well as the reception people. Mr. Damian didn’t registered the correct date for our departure, and 3 days in a row we had to go back to the reception to program our room cards again since our cards were showing we had already left the hotel. Because of this problem with the departure date, every morning the cleaning service knocked on the door at 8 am to check if it was our departure date so they could clean the room.
During a few occasions we told to Mr. Calderon the mistakes done during the check in, but nothing was corrected. Because it was him who registered us, he was supposed to give us all the indications about the towels, the hotel rules, the breakfast service, but he seems to hate his work, he performs it very poorly, is a shame because of the service offered from people like him it gives a bad reputation to the whole work of the rest of the people at the hotel that were really nice and kind.
My general experience was regular, the Price is accessible, as a suggestion I will tell them to have free wi-fi or at least pay for an amount and keep the service all the time you will stay at the hotel and not pay everyday for the service. Also, as suggestion, do not leave people who lacks of customer service like Mr. Calderon to be the face of your hotel.

Stayed here a week in November with family. It is cheap, clean and the rooms are spacious. The beach is beautiful and safe. The staff is super friendly and mostly responsive. The place is being renovated and there was daytime noise as they jackhammered bathroom tiles out on our floor, but they tried to minimize it. The pots and pans in our timeshare were new, and the A/C, while noisy, worked great. The BIG problem was drunken, out-of-control guests. HOARDS of them. There were a couple of other gringos here, and a couple of Mexican families. But young Mexican partiers stayed here mostly, and the Oceano appears to be their Party Palace. Almost every afternoon they would begin drinking, singing and YELLING in the pool and beach area. There were probably a couple of hundred of them. They brought coolers of beer and tequilla in . . . and by three in the morning they were SCREAMING in the halls, pounding on guest doors, making siren sounds - it was awful. I asked them to stop and they just laughed and deliberately got louder. Our children (and adults) were wakened three nights in a row. When I asked the manager about controlling the partiers, he shrugged and said "They are young, what can you do?"
Unless you are between the ages of 15 and 25, single, and into noisy drunken revelry - my advice is: DON'T stay here. If you like to stay up all night partying and disturbing others- try the Palace.
