Spent 3 days at the Hotel La Siesta in order to extend our scheduled 7-day stay at a timeshare property in the Golden Zone. Loved it!

Booked directly with the property from their web site (http://www.lasiesta.com.mx/ingles/index.htm) about 6 months' prior and got a very fair rate (I think it was $58/night oceanside) for high season (late Feb).

On check-in, which was very fast and easy, asked for and rec'd a top-floor (3rd floor) room. No elevator or escalator, which was OK with us. Staff was very friendly and accomodating. Property is dated, but fairly well-maintained. Pool area out back is very inviting and offers good privacy (surrounded by high walls). Housekeeping was good. Did not eat on-site (we had done so on previous trips). Front desk was cheerful in serving our needs for frequent access to the safe deposit box.

Loved the location, great views out our windows, fun to be so close to the El Centro area. Took advantage of that to eat most of our meals in the Centro Mercado/Plaza Machado general area.

We'd definitely return, and definitely recommend this property for anybody who is not focused on lying on the beach.

This was my 4th time to Mazatlan and 16th to Mexico. I normally stayed at the El Cid until our timeshare at the Torres Mazatlan. The Torres was full so I look around on this site before deciding the the La Siesta. There was construction so you may want to email or call, but besides that here is my review.
I will never stay anywhere but the La Siesta again. Rooms were very clean and the hotel was nice. I would say very quaint and charming (and I am known for being somewhat of a diva) with awesome views. We sat on the balcony and watched the surfers, families, lovers and joggers go down the Malacon. Their is AC, cable, dressers, small desk with chairs and clean bathrooms. Martha was our maid too, and we loved her. One thing I realized was that we were not "stuck" at our hotel. We came and did when ever and loved the charming old town feel. It really reminded me of a cross between South Beach and New Orleans. Our options for eating, shopping, beaches, site seeing etc. were endless and within walking distance. It was my first time in Mazatlan that I never ONCE took a bus.
One more thing you must know is the Shrimp Bucket. I read mixed reviews and I ate there every day if not twice a day. The chilorio omlett is out of this world and the shrimp sandwich made me tear up a little just as an example. Alex the owner was one of the nicest people along with the cutie Erensto (with and without glasses) the two Davids and Adrain made us want to just stop and say hello (and maybe drool a little). You must go at least once, I did every day for 10 days.
Stay at the Hotel La Siesta .....you will not regret it.

This little time warp of a hotel is bliss. After you enter the small cramped stuffy lobby to check in, your bags are whisked out through a door to a huge refreshingly cool, quiet courtyard filled with 2 ancient rubber trees - "MAGIC". The rooms are clean with air con. Internet in the lobby. Add to this a new cute little pool off the courtyard with new bathrooms for the guests to use. There are lots of steps to climb to your room if you want a fab ocean view. We had very good help with our luggage, actually everything just floated up in front of us to our room. We will always stay here.
I feel like I should mention the connecting(through the courtyard) restaurant the, "El Shrimp Bucket" we all (4) loved the amazing food so much we even had our breakfasts(filled with local business people) there as well as our other meals. The "Shrimp Bucket" meal on the menu is a MUST! Marlin burrito for breakfast ..... heaven. We had 3 rooms for 5 days 4 nights. there were 4 adults and everybody was happy.

  • Liked — Ambience, Location, El Shrimp Bucket
  • Disliked — front doors to courtyard, and to lobby confusing- sometimes locked. Always difficult to open, needing adjustment

I lived for two weeks at the Hotel La Siesta in Mazatlan in an ocean front room. Every morning I bought a cup of coffee and sat on my balcony and watched the comings and goings of pelicans, grebes, Magnificent Frigate birds and human beings with their dogs.

I thought that the competence and friendliness of the staff were above average. They were always working to clean the public areas and make the hotel better. You can't beat the location.

My room was not luxurious but it was adequate and everything was clean. The hotel has wi-fi in the rooms which was a big plus. The bathroom was new and clean and the shower was really wonderful - better than home!

For people who don't like street noise, the hotel is probably not for them because the ocean view rooms are right on the malecon; however, when all is quiet, it is marvelous to go to sleep listening to the waves breaking on the Olas Atlas beach.

This hotel was a pleasant surprise! We had an ocean view room that was cleaner than some four star hotels I have stayed in. Martha the housekeeper did a great job and always supplied us with a pitcher of fresh water . Also nice about the hotel was free use of a safety deposit box and free use of the computer in the lobby. The tv had many channels but for those of you who stay here you must check out the remote control and leave a deposit..no biggy. Those of you that are sensitive to noise should know the ocean and some traffic can get noisy..but it didn't bother us much. The views of the ocean from the balcony make up for that! We thought the location ideal for exploring old Mazatlan and would stay here again..especially at these prices! Friendly staff at front desk and throughout the hotel too.The pool area is comfortable ..good for sunning or relaxing..The pool is not heated .Enjoyed breakfasting downstairs at El Shrimp Bucket too...Jay and Carl
