“Good location, everything else average”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 22, 2011

Good choice in Mazatlan if you want to be near the old town. Pay the extra for a room with a sea view and you are likely to get a view of an amazing sunset. The rooms are basic, but clean. Not the sort of place you would probably want to be for a week, but is fine for one or two nights.

Stayed in Feb of 2010. Hotel was super clean and most fantastic location if you want to be in Mexico and not the tourist zone. Balconies have the most awesome view of the ocean and sunset. Street right below the balcony, but only noise at night was the waves crashing on the beach that we could hear through our OPEN windows. Rooms outdated but very clean and comfortable. Everyone was nice and helpful. When we go again, we will not stay anywhere else. LOCATION , CLEANLINESS, AND PRICE cant be beat.

Room Tip: You must have an oceanview room. Dont settle for a courtyard view. It is not worth it.

Stayed 6 nights this past week and am I glad I chose La Siesta. First off, this is not a 5 star, luxury hotel...if that is what you are expecting then you should look elsewhere. If what you are looking for is a good basic, clean room in a great part of town then you can't go wrong with this hotel. I spent most of my time on the balcony (make sure you ask for ocean view...it's a couple $ more per night but worth it) wonderful sunsets and a nice breeze for enjoying a few cold ones. The rooms are basic....2 beds, quite firm but good for me, s,all t.v. with a dozen or so english channels plus many more in spanish. a/c works fine, shower only, desk and chair. Maid service was great. Hotel does not have an elevator but is only 3 stories tall so keep that in mind. Front desk was helpful and english was not a problem. The area around the hotel (centro) is wonderful for walking around and lots of little restaurants and pubs within a few blocks, The beach across the street is really nice and the malecon is right out the front door if you feel like going for a walk. Free wifi that works very well. I would not hesitate to book at La Siesta next time I visit Mazatlan.

This is an older hotel with a wonderful atmosphere. Don't be put off by the it 's age though, the rooms are clean and the rate through Air Canada vacations was $31 Cdn per night.

The restaurant, El Shrimp Bucket, provides shrimp that my shrimp-loving husband adored. The service was friendly and although the staff speak English, they were willing to let me practise my Spanish. The location also includes a corner store and a travel agency. The bus costs 9.5 pesos to most places, but open air taxis are available everywhere.

Located right on the beach, but there is also a pool. We would return anytime just for the food.

Room Tip: The second floor is better if you have difficulty with stairs, there is no elevator.

La Siesta doesn't pretend to be a fancy, expensive hotel. It does give you great value in all the basics. If you want a high priced concierge to book your tours and hold your hand, go elsewhere, there are plenty of good hotels in Mazatlan, but be prepared to spend one to several hundred dollars a night. If you are a grown-up and can ask the desk for help to book your own, then La Siesta is perfect for you. For the low-season price of $35 a night, La Siesta provides all the basics: a good bed, clean bathroom w/shower, TV, phone, swimming pool, access to the beach, etc.
It is very close walking distance to the historic old center of Mazatlan, the Plaza Machado, the cathedral, and the wonderful Angela Peralta Theatre.
There are many restaurants within walking distance, but the restaurant associated with the hotel is "The Shrimp Bucket" and their food is excellent and reasonable,.

Room Tip: If you want quiet above all, choose a room on the inside. If you want spectacular views of sunrise a...

We stayed at La Siesta and throughly enjoyed our time! With an ocean view and friendly staff, you couldn't ask for more. The room was nice, but just the basics. Make sure to bring a hair dryer if you need it, there wasn't one provided. It is also located in an excellent area of Historic Zone; you're walking distance from the local market, the Cathedral, restaurants and shops. We would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: ask for an ocean view
