“Nice beach!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 25, 2014 NEW

Beautiful beach with tons of shells to pick and we even found a sand dollar - it was a great day spent with family

“Tour Companies Matter”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed December 19, 2014

Booked a tour on a party barge (concierge told us it was a sailboat) that took us to the island ... which isn't really an island. It's a 10 minute boat ride to the penninsula of stone island. We were stuck at a beach location that serves a number of tour outfits pouring disgusting drinks for 3 hours. They made tequila sunrises out of orange fanta. The worst however, was that when the tour ended and he came back our beautiful and safe tour bus that picked us all up at 4 different hotels was replaced with a fleet of pickup trucks that had wooden benches welded above the wheel wells and capped with a canopy. That's fine for getting around the city, but our hotel was a 40 minute drive, and going 60 mph in Mexican traffic in the back up a pickup truck is NOT what I signed-up for. I can't remember the name of the tour company, but their catamaran barges were green and black and yellow. Guides were great, but the tour was way too long and the end transportation was dangerous. Spending the afternoon stuck at the beach location was like leaving a fine hotel to go camping.

“not that special”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 19, 2014

on a 1 to 5 i have to give it a 3. it was an ok day trip, we went out on a monday so not so many people. i can't imagine what's it's like with locals on weekend, to crazy i should think. it's a dirty looking beach, by that i mean the sand is not white, with a stretch of restaurants that i'm sure all the same. we picked one recommended by a local and it was just ok. the fish was dry and overcooked, i had i coconut drink that halfway through i had the waiter put rum in so that livened things up a bit. but overall, if you are in mazatlan for only a short time, skip it

“Never to be missed~”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 18, 2014

First off: If you are on a cruise ship DO NOT BOOK THE CRUISE SHIP TOUR. You can actually walk to the water taxi from the cruise dock. If you are not it shape to walk a taxi will only cost you a couple of bucks. Tell the taxi driver you want to go to Isla De Las Piedras. The water taxi is also just a couple of bucks. Get off the water taxi, go across the road and behold the best beach in Mazatlan.
Second off: If you are not on a cruise ship find out what day there is not a cruise ship in port (if there is such a thing any more) and go on that day.

I take all of our friends there and we go to Victor's at the far end of the beach. Awesome food, hammocks and ice cold beer. Heaven.

“Would not recommend”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 18, 2014

We traveled with another couple who had visited this island 8 years ago, and they were very disappointed to see the many new hotels riddled along the beach. It was no longer a quaint hideaway -- now rows of hotels and a golf course. We rented 4-wheelers and went to the very end of the beach and saw tons of garbage along the way.
