“Perfect in every way”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 29, 2011

I stayed at Old Mazatlan Inn for two weeks and it was fantastic.

I had a two-bedroom suite with a full kitchen, living room and balcony. I do not recall the exact rates; but it was very reasonable.

The pool was relaxing and private. The roof garden has, without a doubt, the best view of Mazatlan in Centro Historico.

Plazuela Machado, Plazuela Hidalgo, Olas Altas, the Cathedral and the Central Market are all within easy walking distance.

O'Neil, who runs the Inn, is very thorough and helpful when giving newcomers advice about restaurants, cab fare, things to do and places to see.

Before this trip, I had always stayed at Hotel Belmar; which is a great experience... but a more gritty experience. Old Mazatlan Inn is a completely different kind of amazing experience. Comfort. Relaxation. Clean. Truly PERFECT. The Inn exceeded all of my expectations.

Old Mazatlan Inn is one of the best values, and certainly has all the creature comforts one could ask for. Comfortable beds, an abundance of hot water with great pressure; perfect ocean breezes, and amazing staff to make your stay pleasant.

Enjoy Mazatlan.

The Old Mazatlan Inn is a sweet little hotel tucked at the edge of El Centro. It is convenient to everything - a few blocks the Malecon, a few blocks the Merchado, etc.

When you come through the gates into the courtyard it is like stepping in to a magic garden. Every surface is decorated with whimsical mosaics or covered in vines and flowers. There are several seating areas scattered here and there that just invite you to relax with a book. The pool is small but well maintained and the chairs are clean and comfortable. The highlight of the property has to be the rooftop patio. It has a beautiful 360 degree view and a particularly great view of the ocean. It is the perfect place to watch the sunset and have a little glass of wine while you decide where to go for dinner.

The rooms are little suites with a simple kitchen/living area and a separate bed and bathroom. Each room has a balcony with a view and lots of bougainvillea vines spilling over the railings. The decor is quaint and attractive with lots of exposed brick and tile. The furnishings are simple but comfortable. The kitchenette is great if you would like to eat in and there is a fabulous outdoor kitchen in the common area that is available as well.

The service is friendly and wonderful. Everyone from the Manager to the young men who clean the rooms go out of their way to make sure you are having an enjoyable stay. It is the little special touches (like the towels shaped into a swan) that are extra special. The property is great but it really is the personal touch that make staying here such a pleasure.

Sitting in the Machado, having breakfast... a short walk from OMI... Just about the perfect blend of amenities, location, community and beauty. Old Mazatlan Inn is certainly the 'place to stay' in Centro.
Say hello to Oneil and the crew! You will NOT be disappointed! I guarantee it!

The Old Mazatlan Inn is situated in Centro Historico (old Mazatlan) with several plazas nearby. Old Mazatlan is a wonderful place to walk around. It is being renovated and renewed, and there is lots to see and many photo opportunities are available. Everything you can imagine is within walking distance: the beach, the cathedral, the central market, the Angela Peralta Theater, beautiful architecture, restaurants along the seafront and in Machada Square (5 min from hotel). Stone island beaches are a few minutes away and are fabulous too.

The hotel is a very quiet, peaceful place, nice and secure with a front gate that is locked at night but accessible to guests. The staff were kind and attentive but never obtrusive. Mexico has the most friendly people, there's no doubt about it. It is the perfect place to spend time with family, friends, or alone, for a short time, a long vacation or for the entire winter. It's not expensive, the rooms are recently remodeled but in the style of "Old Mexico", big, comfortable and the ocean view is terrific especially from the roof-top deck!! You can even watch the cruise ships come and go several times a day and observe the shipping traffic and the shrimp fleet.

Mazatlan has it's own flavor which is more laid back then other hot spots. We've traveled to Acapulco, Puerto Vallarta, by plane and driven from Nogales to Mazatlan twice for winter stays in Mazatlan and will return again and again.

We stayed here for two weeks on the 3rd floor overlooking the Ocean. The stay in the hotel was like walking back into the past when life was simpler. Once you're settled in to your stay at the Old Mazatlan Inn, you won't want to go back home.

The hotel has a nice pool and courtyard where you can hang out and also has an outdoor kitchen where you can socialize and cook your shrimp use your laptop, drink coffee or read the paper. Free WiFi internet is also provided but reception is stronger near the lobby. Rooms were comfortable, clean, and well maintained and staff were friendy and helpful. Great place for exercise or sightseeing walks along the seafront. You can walk for miles. Small convenience store one block away. Larger stores within ten blocks. The pool area is small but swimmable. A surfable beach is just four blocks down the street. We recommend this hotel for your vacations in Mazatlán and we will definitely return.

So the parking is on a hill, otherwise stunning, amazing, and best of the best. Recently revamped by new owners but retains much of its original charm. Vibrant, effortlessly cool rooms with A/C & TV. Rooftop views are stunning. Pool is perfect. Location is great. Owner and staff are terrific. Although on or off season rates are both fair, off season is absolute steal !!! If I could I would simply live there.

Very comfortable and intimate, we practically had the place to ourselves. We stayed here after a few days in a resort for a wedding, and found Old Mazatlan Inn to be the perfect escape from the Zona Dorada. Just a short walk from great restaurants, the beach, and all the sights in Old Mazatlan. We loved the pool, the outdoor kitchen (and in-room kitchenette), and most of all, the rooftop deck with fantastic views of both Old Mazatlan and the beach. The staff provided the perfect balance of attentiveness and leaving us to relax and enjoy ourselves.

As soon as we got out of the taxi at Old Mazatlan Inn, the manager came out to greet us and give us a tour. From that moment on the entire experience was wonderful. The pool is tranquil and refreshing and the hotel is centrally located. My met a couple that has been staying there for 11 years, so it has to be a good place! I love the outdoor cooking area and the rooftop patio for watching the sunset over the ocean. If we go back to Mazatlan, we would certainly stay there.
