Perfect weather. Very clean hotel. Rooms good and all with ocean view. Friendly service. Food plentiful and lots of selection - not all dishes to our taste but always found something fresh and good to eat. A la carte restaurants not great; preferred the buffet. Always surprised to see people eating the hotdogs and hamburgers put out in the late afternoon. Wine horrible and no selection; went into town to get our own. Very surprising since this is supposed to be a 5* hotel. Coffee also horrible; went offsite for coffee. Some people complain about "locals" being at the hotel: Hello - this is their country, what do you expect? Mexican families we saw were warm, close-knit, well-behaved, polite. Bigger problem I would point out are drunken Canadian males 25+, being obnoxious, or tourists butting out on the pool deck. Did not prefer this beach to any we have been to previously in Mexico - definitely would return to the Mayan Riviera instead. Water not enjoyable for us - too cool, too rough. Beach is good for walking, though. Pools seemed to be well maintained and there were always 2 paramedics on standby. Preferred part of the resort farthest away from pool bar area, as they blare techno-disco "music" with loud bass; no melody, no lyrics - just a bunch of noise and very unrelaxing to be exposed to it. Hotel had a huge influx of local families just as we were leaving as it was school break week and Holy Week, so we were glad to be leaving as it became very difficult to get an elevator when the hotel became so crowded. We were on the side where pool bar and theatre are located, so getting a good night's sleep not ideal - ask for a room farthest away if this is important to you (wish we had).
