I have been to this hotel on a few occasions, it's a great hotel, helpful staff, impecably clean, it really is what you would consider a 5 star resort to be. One downside is the location of the resort is pretty out the way, and it does feel a bit stale (lack of ambiance). But I really would recommend this to any families, couples,or people travelling alone, this also the Riu has the best part of the beach in the whole of Mazatlan which is a huge plus (private so you don't get the millions of people selling you things approaching you directly) Rooms are large, airy & comfortable all facing the sea. Even the lower priced rooms are the best in Mazatlan. Downside is the drinks contract has been switched from Modelo to Cauhtemoc Moctezuma, no more Corona, it's all 2nd grade alcohol.
