I traveled with my husband and two small kids (2 and 4) and I would highly recommend it. We asked for a crib and a cot, and they worked perfectly! we just had a standard hotel room and we fit fine. The crib was a NEW graco pack and play and the cot was actually a super comfortable roll away single bed. If you had an infant you could easily wheel the packnplay down, stuff it in the elevator and take it right out under a shade try by the pool! Everyone was super helpful with the kids and would go completely out of their way to help us. There is also a room called a "family" room which is two stories, and has two bathrooms and a sitting area. And it was only $28 more for the week. we unfortunately needed adjoining rooms (friends were nice enough to accompany us!) so we didn't take this option. But good to know it's there.
It was cool the first day that we were there and pools were cool. All except for the little one in Rui playland that was heated I swear to 90 degrees! Riuland was clean, well maintained, shaded, always warm and gated to keep little ones where they needed to be. Our kids absolutely loved it. It was just big enough that you could give them the freedom to play on their own without being nervous of anyone drowning. We did not use the kids club, but that was just because our kids were to busy with us.
I had thought that milk might be an issue for our little ones but no way, not here. One of the waiters seen me filling a container during breakfast one day and asked if I wanted the carton. I said sure, mostly just because I was nosey just wondering what type of milk it was! but they brought me the entire carton (and continued to do so for the rest of the week) of normal tetra pack pasteurized cows milk. Not scary at all! and my kids never even noticed a difference.
The resort is a nice size if your traveling with little ones as it's pretty compact. there's not much walking to and from places and they conveniently placed washrooms where they should be! near the pools! I hate walking a mile myself, or with little ones in wet bathing suits searching for a washroom. so this was nice and easy.
The beach is huge, with TONS of loungers and we NEVER ONCE had to fight for chair. Now that's a nice touch! As for the food, it was just as great as usual, and as we have come to expect from Riu resorts. Very clean, drinks, food, staff were all excellent and for the cheapy, cheapy price that we paid... we (and our kids, I'm sure) would go back tomorrow!
oh, and we also went for a walk early one morning to find baby sea turtles running out of their nest and into the ocean. yeah... top that Disneyworld!
