This hotel is not in Manzanillo. Our driver said Manzanillo is one hour away. The hotel is beautiful. It is located on a bay. The beach is not that great. Several people warned us again swimming in the lagoon at our hotel. You can take a ferry for 20 pesos to the neighboring island of Barra de Navidad where you can shop and eat. This island is safe and has many foreigners living there. They have beaches there where you can pay 20 pesos for an umbrella and chairs. The beach has strong currents and we decided to get out after we began noticing sting rays. They were marvelous, but we didn't expect them so close to shore.
The rooms: beautiful. No carpet. Equipped with two water bottles per day and a bowl of fruit. The have an iron, ironing board and hair dryer. You will also get shampoo, conditioner, gel, shower gel, lotion. The beds were to firm for my liking. The AC cooled very well. We even turned it off.
The pool: wonderful!! They have slides and tunnels connecting the three pools. The hot tub was luke warm, but that was ok since it's hot out. The pools were clean and you get drink and snack service. The only complain is that they don't have umbrellas for the lounge chairs. There is a smaller pool on the 10th floor that is never crowded.
Food: we opted for the breakfast plan. It is a buffet with Mexican dishes and some American favorites like pancakes. Dinner was limited to either the casual restaurant or the more upscale one. The menu does not change and the casual restaurant has a pasta buffet. The restaurant service is spotty. Sometimes the servers were attentive and sometimes they were non existent.
exchange your money at the hotel. They give you a good exchange rate.
There's a grocery store by the marina where you can get snacks and liquor
The overcharged us four times while we were there. We had no waiter service twice. Once at the pool and once at breakfast. Waiter service at our last dinner was spotty. After our first drinks, they never returned until it was time to pay. The transportation to the airport was late and I believe they called us a taxi, so it means we overpaid by $40 since taxis are only $30.
