“"Beautiful Resort"”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 25, 2013

We were a bit hesitant going to Mexico but upon our arrival at the Grand Bay we were pleasantly surprised. This is truly a grand hotel. The Landscape and scenery are awesome. The reception staff was very helpful and check-in was quick and easy. Our room was clean and comfortable and all recreational amenities were easily accessable.
We enjoyed a variety of meals at the pool side buffet and at the Grand cafe. The full course dinners at Antonio's and Terraza restaurants were delicious.
A special thank you to Marcela, Ernesto, Jorge ,Yolanda and all the friendly staff for the great dinners and pleasant stay.
"Will return in a heart beat"

“Nice...but not for everyone”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2013

I've vacationed in Mexico a number of times, but never to this area. This is the first small, non-touristy part of Mexico I've visited. The area itself is beautiful -- reminded me alot of Hawaii. The hotel is pretty nice, but is in need of a few updates. Location is amazing...as the hotel is built within a mountain. If you're looking for a nice place to stay that's out of the way AND you are really looking for quiet time & R&R, then this is a place for you. However, if you are looking for fun, noise, & young(er) people - this is NOT your place. I am 40...and 95% of the tourists at the resort were 20 to 30 + years older than me. Restaurants at the hotel were decent, but you do get tired of the menu pretty quickly, but with Barre just a quick 2 min taxi ride across the lagoon, you do have other options. Pools were beautiful as were the grounds. I would probably go back, but not for another 20 years or so. Best excursion we had was a 5 hour boat ride which included a snorkeling trip & lunch on the beach. Well worth it and the guide was great. A lot of great fish to see.

Room Tip: We were on the 2nd floor - I would recommend going floor 3 or higher for better views, but we needed...

“It is amazing!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 19, 2013

It was the first time we went to Mexico. The landscape and the location of the hotel is breath taking. Every where is spotless. It is a prefect place to relax and unwind. They have 3 different swimming pools and a hot tub, of course there is a pool bar, there is a fourth swimming pool with a hot tub on top of the hotel for those who want some quiet time. The golf course is magnificent.

Staff were very friendly. We are frequent travellers. This is the first hotel, except from cruise ships, we experienced room being made in the morning and in the evening, blinds were closed, bed were prepared with chocolate placed on our pillows. Management does not lose sight on small detail; every guest receives fresh fruit and a personalized welcome letter upon arrival. Service from restaurants staff was outstanding. There were different theme of live music at the bar and two restaurants in the evening. They have a club for kids and provide free baby sitting for hotel guests.

We were leery about Mexico with all the negative news, but staying in Grand Bay has changed
our perception. We plan to go back with our children and grand children next year.

Room Tip: Though every room has a very good view, the higher up you are the better.

“Lovely Golf Rescort”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 15, 2013

This is a nice resort with all the usual amenities. The rooms have great views of the marina, lagoon and ocean. They are a bit dated with old tube like TV and 1980s color patterns. The room A/C and wifi are quite spotty. The staff and upgrade Restuarant were fabulous. The best meal is down in the "market" Restuarant where you buy your meal by the kilo. The 27 hole golf course is challenging but most of the caddies are of great help especially on the greens. You much take a trip via water taxi (cost $2 US) round trip to the little village. Food over there is very reasonable and generally good quality.

“My heart has found it's home!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 13, 2013

This was our first trip to somewhere tropical March 6 - 13, 2012 and also our honeymoon. We were nervous about travelling to a foreign country, we were unsure of what to expect. We searched and searched and finally decided to book the Grand Bay and we were not disappointed!! This place is MAGICAL! When you dream of paradise, this is it! The staff at this resort are EXCEPTIONAL! Friendly, happy, always right there to help whenever you need them. Everyone, from the cleaning people to the bar tenders to the concierge, all of them were so helpful and pleasant, going out of their way to make our vacation perfect!
The hotel and grounds are breath taking! We took a couple tours, went whale watching, fishing, snorkeling and had lunch and dinner on the beach. Juan was fabulous, helping us book tours and arranging for us to have a true Mexican dinner at a small place on the beach.
A few small little villages are only a short water taxi ride away and are true to everyday life in Mexico. The residents in these towns are just awe inspiring, working hard everyday in scorching heat, always willing to stop and say hello or answer questions. At no time did we feel pressured to buy anything.
Grand Bay is a place to go to relax. It is not a party place which was perfect for us. We lead a busy life and we wanted to go somewhere to unwind and revive, this was the place. They have a wonderful spa and a beautiful golf course.
I could go on and on and on about how this place was our dream come true!!
We are booking right now for another vacation in two weeks. Although there are many places that look nice at a great price, my heart is calling me to go back to Manzanillo. I have already stated to my husband that I wish to retire there. We will be returning Jan 29, 2013 and staying at the Grand Bay, there is no other choice for us!

Room Tip: We had a room over looking the pool and it was beautiful. We moved rooms half way through up to a hi...
