Food was great and exceeded expectations. Amenities (tennis, pools, beach, etc.) were very good. The employees kindly assisted us with a special problem we had.
The room was so so, and my back is still recovering from sleeping on the concrete (?) bed with a thin mattress.
Only a handful of US tourists; most guests were Mexican and very pleasant. A family resort where children have many good choices and unlimited food to eat.

Well, where to start! We are a family of 6. My wife and I are in our mid 30's and our children are ages 15, 12, 11, 6. It was our first major vacation, and I was very nervous going to a different country. Our ride to the resort was a little hairy due to the fact they could not fit our family on the bus. They split us up into two different cars and we were on our way. It happened to work out great because we beat the bus load of people to Club Maeva. I do not speak any spanish, and most of the people at the front desk spoke only spanish, so it was difficult to get it figured out. They pretty much gave us two keys and 4 towel cards and said, "next!". I just started walking with suitcases in hand and came upon a housekeeper sitting on the bench. I showed her the # on the envelope we were given, and she pointed the direction. We walked up plenty of steps to get to our villa, as it is on the hillside. Our villa was 3 levels with 2 bedroms (1 queen, 2 singles) with two couches that doubled as single beds and two bathrooms. Our room was ok. Do not expect plush! But it was fine for what we needed. The kitchen was a little primitive, but we did not expect to cook. The fridge was definitely a +.The beds were a concrete slab with pretty thin mattresses on them, so it was not the most comfortable thing. They do not provide blankets, and the pillows were thin aswell. We found that if you leave the a/c cranked during the day, and shut it off at bed time, it was the most comfortable. Our family had an absolute ball at this place. We pretty much stayed on grounds and made the rounds to the beach, waterslides, and pool everyday. The staff were friendly, but we never understood each other. The resort is occupied by about 90% mexican people, so we were definetaly the minority.
We did ALOT of walking, which was ok because it was beautiful at every turn and we were happy to be in the most perfect weather imaginable. Plenty of food, but very authentic mexican (not tex-mex that we are used to). LOTS of fruit!. Breakfast was my best meal. After about the 5 days, we were all pretty much sick of the same food. There were some things that we would not try though. BRING SOME KETCHUP WITH YOU! I was totally craving a good glass of milk aswell, which you could not get. Minty milk??? We had an awesome time though, and I would recommend Club Maeva to anybody, unless they need to be pampered at every turn. If you do, stay away. As for us, we will never forget the excellent time we had at Club Maeva. It cost our family 4200.00 for airfare (round trip from MN) and 7 days all inclusive. GREAT DEAL!

  • Liked — Everything you could possibly want was on grounds.
  • Disliked — hard beds/no blankets
  • Tips/Secrets: — bring ketchup!!!!

I made the reservations through another website which reports this facility as being a 5 star rated hotel. The pictures of the hotel presented by the other website depict a beautiful place. Until you are there and realize that those pictures must have been taken several years back because the place looks nothing as depicted on those pictures.
We arrived at the hotel at about 5pm and had to wait in line to register. We were assigned a room which we found to be occupied. We were then assigned to another room. This one had a leaky bathroom toilet. It took some phone calls and about four hours for the plumber to arrive and fix the leak. I then had to make some more calls to get a housekeeper to clean and sanitize the bathroom floor. At night when we were going to bed we noticed that ants were coming out of a electrical wall socket, going up the wall and some of them ventured on to the bed. While trying to kill the ants we noticed that the floor around the bed was dusty. Upon closer examination, we found that along with the dust there were hair folicles from the intimate parts of the human body. My wife and I slept on the couch that night. The following morning I complained to the housekeeper supervisor who assured me that she would personally supervise the cleaning of our room.

The room itself is in dire need of refurbishing. The bathroom faucets, toilet, vanity and shower appear to be original equipment. The television set is so old that the color around the control bottons is worn out. The mattress is lumpy, the bedding is old and worn out in places. The buildings, although they shine because of the fresh coat of paint also show it's years. The public bathrooms throughout the premises are also old and in need of remodeling. The food was good although spicy. The bars around the pool and the restaurants close at 9:00 pm, so if you want a drink after 9:00pm you had to hike about two city blocks to get a drink.

I will not recomend this place to anyone nor will I return to this place. This facility if anything should be categorized as 2 star hotel and should be priced accordingly.

Getting to the Hotel wasn't the bad part. The bad part was getting our FIRST room! Immediately, the dowstairs bathroom was fludded. The SECOND room they gave us was an occupied room. What a nightmare. The second night we were still trying to get a room at almost midnight. I must say the guy who was in charge of the rooms, was very nice. And trying to do the best of his job as possible. Finally,at almost 1, we went to the second room to get all of our stuff and our 3 year old boy, went to sleep in dad's shoulder. We were tired, hungry, and just wanted to go to the new room to sleep. That was the only bad part. The distribuation of the hotel was very bad and everything was too far apart from each other. I must say the hotel is really pretty. About lost and found: 0! It was bad. The food was 70% okay and 30% bad. I really suggest that the few of your waiters really need training in service. That was really bad. My kids and I say that when we came back from getting our second plate of food, nobody bothered to pick it up from the table. The dirty plates. The service really got oour impression that they were waiting for a tip or something, and I think we paid enough for our visit in the Hotel. We were really dissapointed. Sorry but we will never come back to Club Maeva. It was a terrible vacation for us.

We have just returned home from a week stay at the Club Maeva. Our expectations were a 2 star resort, with so-so food and bare minimum activities. We were pleasantly surprised. You have a first class club from A-Z.To top the usual amenities off,the staff is second to none. The nightly shows were fantastic, the cleanliness appreciated and not to be forgotten, the friendliness of all of your staff there.A special thanks, to all of the Maeveamigos who made us feel so welcome.A special "THANKS" to Juan(Rocky),Hugo,Luzy and Sergio.Your kindness and the special treatment that you showed us,will not be forgotten.Keep up the great work and we hope to be back soon. Thank you.
