My wife and I and another couple just came back from a week stay at Las Hadas and had a wonderful time. The service was gracious, prices reasonable and rooms very nice with a great view. The downside to our rooms were that they were 174 steps from the beach. Which leads to a great view and a way to work off a few cervezas, but you don't want to have to run back and forth so plan ahead.
The beach was lovely and had great snorkeling right off the beach. There are no waves to speak of and the swimming is almost pool like. Great for kids. We ate breakfast ala carte every morning (not on all-inc)at the hotel (great) and had a few lunches (burgers) at the beach (pretty good). We usually had 2 for 1 happy hour drinks at lobby bar (happy hour is 6-8pm bartender Efrain wonderful)then ate out.
Cabs are necessary to get anywhere (5$ to get to most restaurants, 10$ to get to Manzanillo, and 12$ to restaurant Le Recif). Restaurants that we went to were El Fogon- which had solid Mexican fare and fun atmosphere (aztec soup especially good), Juanito's-decent hamburger joint very cheap and satellite sports, Le Recife- great view and very good food and surprisingly affordable for such an elegant setting (figure 30$ per person including tip and 3 drinks), La Pergola-decent food but overrated, Le Toscana-beautiful location and solid italian cuisine, and then our favorite which we went to twice-Portofino-great location on the beach and fabulous food. Our waiter and I think manager was Rudolfo who spoke English very well and was a tremendous host. Priced reasonable which I guess can be said about the entire area of Manzanillo. I almost forgot to mention Pedro's at Miramar beach-wonderful and talkative guy and good beach grub.
About Manzanillo itself-it is a very laid back and welcoming retreat and I am glad I visited there. On the whole I prefer Puerto Vallarta but for those who just want to chill and not be bothered (no beggars or vendors in sight let alone the dreaded TIME SHARE SALESMEN) Manzanillo could be just the ticket.
I will conclude with one more endorsement of Las Hadas and what a beautiful place it is. After reading some of the negative reviews it is hard for me to believe these people stayed at the same place.

“The Best Part About our Trip Was Not Staying at Las Hadas...Long”

I've been waiting to write this review since waiting for a hour to order a Pina Colada at the beach at Las Hadas. I can say with utmost certainty, having traveled all through Mexico and having stayed at the smallest to the larget of establishments, that the best part about our trip to Manzanillo over New Years was that we didn't stay at Las Hadas. What an unenviable dump. Looks good from afar. Far from good.

After venturing down from our Villa to the lobby "Martini Bar" one evening, only to find the bar (and hotel for that matter) devoid of any life save evening bugs, we ordered one stiff (not good) drink and left. Returning the following day for some sun, we found we had to pay $25 per person for a towel and chair. Ok. We then found that required paperwork as well. Ok. We then found out that despite having paid for 8 chairs, which according to the papaerwork constitutes a cabana, we still had to pay separately for that. Ok. We then found that, after filing in triplicate, we had to wait 30 minutes for either a towel or a chair or a cabana.

At the end of the day we returned our towels along with paperwork and were told they were not going to refund our $600 pesos due to a glitch in the system and improper paperwork. We had the paperwork. What kind of system is this? Argument ensues, we leave with half.

Gluttons for punishment that we are we decide to give it one last try and eat at Los Delfines Restaurant. To ensure ourselves a spot that evening we walk up and make a reservation. At 7:30 we return to the restaurnat to find that our reservation for 13 has been given away to a "demanding customer" with a party of 40. Great. "Why, we ask." A shoulder shrug was the sum total of the response to this question. We ask if they can just pull a few of the many empty table together. No, they say. "Why not?" Shoulder shrug. I would be thinking commiuncation gap, except that my wife speaks fluent spanish and is carrying on a conversation with the hostess who is apologizing profusely for the manager. I chalk it up to rudeness.

After finally acquiescing, they pull tables together, we sit and proceed to wait an hour and half for the worst food I've had since a McDonald's breakfast. We learned our lesson, and we made up a saying: That place is so Las Hadas. Read: No bueno.

Do yourse;f a favor. Stay away. Stay at Villa La Querencia and look down (literally) upon those poor fools below.

Viva Mexico. Down with Las Hadas.

“Amazing and Unique”

I just got back from a three-day weekend at Las Hadas, and it was remarkable. As an American living in Mexico for the last three and a half years, I have been to MANY beach resorts in Mexico, but I think Manzanillo (and particularly Las Hadas) is my new favorite. Granted, we were there during low season... and I don't really know what it would be like when it is more crowded. But the experience was terrific, and I just had to share my thoughts.

I thought the service at Las Hadas was outstanding. Anything I needed or asked for was brought to me - even if it wasn't on the menu or normally provided.

The room was BEAUTIFUL - one of the nicest I've seen. We stayed in a junior suite. We had private stairs leading up to our room, and a little porch out front. When I walked in, I stepped into the foyer (yes, it had a foyer) with a domed ceiling, and turned to my left to see a small room with a mini-bar. Also to my left was a door which led out to a lovely patio, which had two lounge chairs, as well as a small dining table and chairs. In the bedroom, there was a LARGE window seat with a beautiful arched window which peeked out over the bougainvillea to a perfect ocean view. The bed was very comfortable (not always true, but definitely true here), and there was a ceiling fan as well as air conditioning. The bathroom took my breath away, with a very large bathtub, marble double sinks, and plenty of space to move around.

The really cool thing was that all of the rooms seem so unique. Our friends (another couple who went with us) also stayed in a junior suite, but theirs had a completely different yet equally lovely layout. The whole hotel felt like a little village, rather than stacks upon stacks of cookie-cutter rooms. The uniqueness made Las Hadas special, in my opinion.

We did not have a chance to eat at Legazpi, but we did have breakfast each morning in the hotel. I thought that the food was quite good... typical Mexican breakfast fare, plus an omelette station. Many types of yummy juices to try. We had a light supper at the restaurant near the beach one night (I believe it is called "Delphino" or something like that?) and I was not as impressed by their food. Honestly, I am a person who prefers to explore town a bit anyway, so eating lunch and dinner off site was fine with me. I don't think I would like to go "all inclusive" here - but I don't like it anywhere, really.

The pool was beautiful and clean, and the beach area was also. I loved the way that the minerals from local volcanic rock have created a mix of brown and black sand, with sparkles of pyrite looking like gold glitter all around. There were kayaks and other water sport equipment available to rent, and the water was warm and lovely, even in October.

We also took some side trips, to Santiago (by taxi) and to Isla Navidad (we rented a car for the day). I particularly enjoyed taking a small boat around the Barra de Navidad area, where we stopped and had a relaxing dinner at a local restaurant. Great seafood, a nice day on the whole.

I will DEFINITELY be back to Manzanillo, and I will stay at Las Hadas again... it was a beautiful vacation. I highly recommend this hotel!!!

Well, i dont have the same opinion about las hadas. We were there last week and almost everything was terrible!! First you have to climb 4 floorst to get to the brach since the reception anf viceversa. Then -lots of mosquitos-!!!! The food to room service was terrible!! We ordered a pizza and we couldnt even finish 2 slices....
but that is not all! We fouf a huge COCKROACH in the bathroom and another two in the bed!!! We calledthe reception and even they promised to go and change blanckets.. I had to wait 40 minutes and nothing happened! I had to go myself to the reception and when they saw me so angry they finally sent someone who made the bed in a terrible way! I had to re-do it myself...
it "was" a good hotel... But this is no the same hotel it was 30 years ago.... The only good there is the beach, clean ocean.. Even the pool was dirty...
if you wanna have a good and "clean" vacation, do not go to "las hadas"

My husband, one year old son, and I stayed at Las Hadas over the Father's Day weekend in a standard room. We had a great time and enjoyed our experience there. Although the walls could use a fresh coat of paint and the accomodations are a little dated, the room was clean and service was good. The staff was very friendly and accomdating. The beach was great. It is not the crystal clear blue water like you might get in Puerta Vallarta, but you're also not paying what you'd pay there. The beach and water were clean. Lots of beach chairs with umbrellas. Not crowded at all. The food was ok. Not fantastic and a bit expensive. If we had more time and a more cooperative baby, we would have gone into town for meals. The pool is beautiful and clean and there's a large wading pool for kids. We only had difficulty with the stairs. There was an elevator, but you still had to walk a flight of stairs to get to it. It's a few flights down to the beach area. Not good for strollers.

Overall, we had a great time and would definitely stay there again.
