“great location. nice hotel.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 10, 2013 via mobile

overall this hotel is really nice. a few positives.. really clean. nice looking pools. on the beach. greAt location for the mall and markets. free internet. runs greats deals. and has a good restaurant. cabanas and chairs are free when you spend 200 pesos on drinks.

But there were a few negatives also the pools were too cold for my 6 month old. with this hotel at the center of the bay it was packed with the people trying to sell you souvenirs and food. also the worst part... has nothing to do with the hotel but there is the main road coming into the city right next to the hotel so when it rains there is a huge river running into the ocean of the dirtiest water in mexico straight from the dirty streets with garbage and filth going right into the ocean. the hotel did a nice job of having the trash picked up right after the rain stopped but the water of the ocean was still a brown circle in front of this hotel and the few surrounding. if you dont swin in the ocean its fine but you wouldnt want to put your kids in it after thats for sure. i wonder if there is some kind of net or something that would help with this issue.

Went for 2 weeks at the end of February. It was a deal from Sunwing we could not resist with the almost All Inclusive package. The Emporio was renovated a few years ago.
You can not go wrong with the weather. The location of the Emporio is excellent. The views from the 10th floor were breathtaking, the beds and pillows comfortable. The package deal with the almost all inclusive program was so reasonable that it did not prevent us from going to one of the most glamourous restaurants, Zibu. The 2 ADULT POOLS surrounded with tropical foliage were greatly appreciated. The plush sun beds were so comfortable, we would go back just for that. The food was always fresh with more authentic mexican dishes than regular All Inclusive resorts. Our Sunwing Tour Rep. was very professional. Some of our favourite staff: Paulo, Ramses, Carlos, Manuel, Lizette, Jesus, Ceasar to name a few; always working hard with a smile. The professional massages by the pools = 5*, only 350 Pesos. Another reason to go back. Safety was not an issue but watch out when you cross the Costera (Main boulevard), the traffic is intense; but great shoe stores across the street! The hotel was more quiet during the week but the week-ends were busy and fun with people visiting from the capital. There is a Scotia Bank with ATM just around the corner. The Emporio is gay welcoming and the night life close by is very Picante. Acapulco is one of the few places where you always feel young (and silly is OK).

Room Tip: All rooms are ocean view but higher floors are preferable.

PROS:
Amazing drinks around the pool - very tasty and good prices (thanks Jesus!)
Having adult only pools
Location in the middle of the Costera
Amazing views from the room which were very clean
Excellent service generally - friendly and helful staff

CONS:
Water pressure and temperature in the shower could vary
Very long queues for check-in and check-out
The food is very tasty but lacked presentation
Not enough deckchairs around the pools - ou have to get up early and go downstairs to reserve them if you want somewhere to sit during the day
Parking for staying guests should really be free
Wi-fi doesn't reach the rooms

Room Tip: Anythign above the 6th floor will give you the views worth coming for!

I stayed at the Emporio with my boyfriend for one week mid March under the All Inclusive package.
The hotel is located in a prime spot on the strip. Markets, restaurants, malls, bars, everything is close by - and if it isn't, you can hop on the city bus and it's only a shot (and very fun) trip there.
The room was clean and beautiful, comfortable bed. Balcony faced the Bay and a beautiful sunrise/set.
We used the on site gym, it was very clean and did the trick.
At the time that we stayed, the hotel was very empty during the week. As a result of this, we didn't have to rush to reserve a cabana in the morning, and we even had our very own waiter servicing us drinks and lunch.
Breakfast is busy and unusual - they served curried chicken and refried beans and veggies at breakfast time. We opted for omelets and toast and fresh fruit juices!
I would recommend you eat lunch at the snack bar by the kids pool. They offer tacos, hamburgers, nachos, yummy guacamole, chicken wings with blue cheese and much more!
As for dinner, not too much variety. We ate out some days (pizza, tacos & beer, burger king, small cute taco stands) all near by. Although, we did reserve at the Sunset Lounge restaurant on the resort one evening and were pleasantly surprised. My boyfriend had a whole grilled fish with rice and veggies and I had fish tacos that were delicious.
The drinks were abundant, though you could only choose from specific brands. Rum, vodka, gin, tequila, fruity cocktails and BEER - they had them all and they were tasty.
The staff try their best to communicate in English, and if you try your best at throwing in some Spanish words as well, they really appreciate it :) Also, tipping goes a long way. It shows you appreciate their service and trust me, they will pay EXTRA special attention to you if you tip at the beginning of your stay.
Beach is nice, just say "No Gracias" to anyone trying to sell you things and they will leave you alone. You can banana boat, jet ski, get massages on the beach and so much more.
The Emporio was a lovely hotel, I highly recommend it if you are not super picky with food choices and enjoy adventuring around town. There is no night entertainment here, but plenty on the strip.
Go here with low expectations as I did, and you will be pleasantly surprised!
And remember, try to brush up on a few Spanish words before you leave - it will be much appreciated :)

Room Tip: Ask for a from on the 7th floor or above. Nice view of the Bay and the sun.

The situation of the hotel was great the room was terrific with great views over the bay !!!
Sadly the food was the let down really awful special on a Friday night the menu looked great but did not live up to what it promised really awful .... Potatoes dauphinois was still raw ....vegetables awful, the ribs non existent the fish and prawns really poor quality would not recommend eating there. The cocktails were terrible no alcohol in them and the margaritas forget it !!! Despite the quality of the food the hotel was really atmospherically with great pools also an infinity pool overlooking the beach.

Room Tip: Breakfast was a mad dash and was really poor quality food

Very nice modern and clean hotel. Each room has a bacony, and especilly in the center part of the hotel, above the 6th floor, the view is beautiful. Services are adequate, room with modern confort and accessories. The hotel is on the beach, a magnifiscent one with a very nice pool s installation and garden.Prices are in line with that type of a city and location.

Room Tip: reserve on a floor above the 6th you will have no noise and a perfect view

It's not the perfect hotel, but it is still excellent. Nice swimming pools and 2 adult pools make sure you're away from the noise of children, if any. What I really appreciated was the friendliness of the service staff on poolside and at the beach, which unfortunately was not the case at the reception. Had a great time overall.
