“Good value for money, very nice location!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 2, 2013 via mobile

The rooms were nice and big, but the air conditioning was not working properly in some cases. Location is really nice, with beautifull waves right in front of the hotel. Didn't like all the local vendors that won't let you relax on the beach in front of the hotel.... The walks on the beach were epic as well as the sunsets... Fantastic!! Breakfast was good with a lot of fruits and some nice tacos. Staff was very attentive and nice. Overall, a good experience.

I stayed at this hotel for three nights.

Registration was fast and I immediately noticed that the grounds are great. They have three pools, including one for children. There is lots of open space and all the restaurants and pools are very clean.

The rooms, however, are below average. The floor had some stains and it's only swept, so you can feel the dust when you're walking without socks. Painting is also needed on the hallways. I also had a problem with a horrible sound coming out of the WC. They changed a part within minutes after I called, but it ruined a night of sleep (it happened around 2 AM).

I give it a 4 because you also have access to the pools at the nearby Princess hotel and they're fantastic.

All things considered, I had a very good stay, but there are some things to improve.

They charge 125 MXN for each night of parking.

The grounds are lovely, the room was clean and the breakfast buffet was good. The two pools with views of the ocean are really nice. A very family friendly hotel. We couldn't get the A/C in the room to blast much cool air, even after workmen took it apart. I would go back.

I stayed at the Pierre Marques only for a night, as I was attending a wedding nearby. My iphone was stolen and a couple of friends who were also staying at the Pierre, both had their ipads stolen. Wi-fi works only around the lobby area and in the restaurants. Do not bring valuables or have them kept in a safe even if you leave your room for 10 minutes.

3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 20, 2012

Our room was a long walk to the lobby outside. Not too pleasant in the rain. Our room had a view of the beautiful beach. The room was nice but the trip was soured by the fact that a credit card that we used ONLY at this hotel had the number stolen and was used to pay for a plastic surgery clinic and some other things. I had to have the card cancelled and wait a couple weeks for a new card to arrive. This was a major problem, since it was a business credit card and I needed it for business related expenses. On the plus side was that a letter I wrote to the Fairmont headquarters was promptly responded to and they offered a complimentary stay at another Fairmont.

Room Tip: Ask for a building close to the lobby.

It's fitting that the hotel's literature evokes the era of J.P. Getty and the first establishment of hotels on the Playa Revolcadero; being at this hotel does indeed feel like a step back in time. We have visited over ten times (especially when we were posted to Mexico City) and will certainly return. It's a yin and yang type of experience here. The hotel's grounds (especially near the bungalows) are quiet and lush but the water and the beachlife can often be... engaging. If one of the two pools is at all boisterous, the other is empty. If one restaurant is full for dinner, there's always the quiet and refined luxury of Tabachin. It often seems that the corridors and lawns are yours alone even if the hotel is filled to capacity. As for Revolcadero beach, it's our favourite in the world: if you are looking for a safe beach where you can leave your book and beachbag and walk for two hours along the beach and then back again, this is it. We loved to arrive on a Friday after a lightening fast drive from Mexico City and plunge into the waves to get beat up a bit and then look forward to a magnificent meal at the hotel's Tabachin restaurant. The shuttle service to the hotel's sister property (the more famous and also more raucus Acapulco Princess) gives a nice separation from the two though the Princess' spa and tennis courts are worth the trip.

We'll certainly return to the Pierre Marques.

Room Tip: Bungalows are worth the splurge but don't take the furthest from the hotel or the ones right nex...

Very nice beach. Pools are very clean. Rooms are not special but clean and nice size. The gym is very good and the golf course is a 5 minute shuttle ride away. Breakfast is good enough, but in a hotel that is relatively far away from options the restaurants are subpar and very expensive. Service is very good. Overall the beach makes up for the food so I would recommend it and plan to go back.
