This hotel is situated right on the beach. The views are very nice. The staff is helpful and the rooms were clean and nicely appointed. The elevators were small however. There is a Walmart right down the street which made obtaining supplies convenient.
The lobby is pretty, open, and comfortable to just sit and lounge in.
The pool is basic and tended to be crowded quickly.
The restaurant was good, it offers a buffet and menu choices. The downside with the buffet is that they had a problem with birds swooping down onto the outside buffet line. I think management should put salads and fruit and other cold items in dishes with lids to prevent this, as they do with the hot items. The deserts were also a problem as they were left uncovered many times and birds and/or insects swooped down to eat. They put a mesh for example, over the fruit but the flies were able to still get at the fruit. There should be one employee watching the buffet line and preventing this. The hot items were ok, but choices were simple and uninspiring. So, we tended to order off the menu. On one occasion we did have a problem getting a waiter to take our order even though we had been tipping them. On more than one occasion we had trouble getting a clean glass, it was as if they were not cleaning the glasses. The restaurant has a nice view of the water. Overall, if I was just rating the restaurant, I would give it a two star which means the staff needs more improvement and the cleanliness needs to be improved. I recommend management look into 1) staff training to make sure they are taking orders 2) put deserts and cold foods in containers which keep insects and birds away from the food, 3) improve buffet choices 4) have one employee stay at the buffet line and make sure it is clean and stocked 5) focus on glass and silverware being spotless and clean. Bottom line is that the restaurant does not improve this hotel but actually drags it down.
The hotel charges for water in your room and if you want a refrigerator, that is an extra cost which I thought was not appropriate. What I liked the most was that the room felt clean overall.
The beds were comfortable but the pillows were terrible and very hard to sleep on.
The check-out is not clear and needs some work along with general repairs around the property. Someone needing to utilize a wheelchair would find it difficult to get around this property. Also, the stairs leading down from the lobby to the pool seem somewhat concerning as they can get slippery and there are no guard rails to hold onto.
If you open the door to your room, make sure you have something blocking the door from closing. The wind can cause it to slam back and the glass is extremely thin.
The balcony outside your room is comfortable and has two lounge chairs. But, BE CAREFUL, the safety rail did not seem sturdy. If you have children be extremely careful to watch them and to no let them climb on it.
If they ask you at the front desk for your ID to exchange money, DO NOT GIVE IT TO THEM. There is no reason why they need to have a copy of your ID just to exchange money.
Overall I would recommend this hotel, despite the need for improvements, and would stay there again.
