We were recently in Acapulco, and fortunately spent a night in the Hotel Los Flamingos. It was a good value at $85 US. Our room was pretty bare bones, but the view and balcony were the best anywhere. It was quite hot with no breeze that evening, and our room didn't have air conditioning - that was really our only disappointment. Otherwise it was splendid. The grounds and hotel are meticulously maintained. The pool was lovely. And the food - it was the best we have ever had in Mexico. But better than anything else was the staff and their old-world welcoming charm and attention. It was great - highly recommend it!

“Friendliest hotel of my trip”

We stayed at the hotel Los Flamingos for 4 nights. What a great place!
The rooms were very plain, but the views were incredible. We had a great time relaxing at the pool and eating wonderful meals at the restaurant. The staff at the hotel was the friendliest and most welcoming of the entire trip. We also enjoyed learning about the history of the hotel. We met a very friendly group of people who had been going to Los Flamingos for about 30 years. After staying at Los Flamingos we can't wait to return and are very glad that we did not stay in the big high rise hotels on the beach. It was a funky little hotel with tons of character and we enjoyed it very much.

My screen name says it all. I been going to ACA since i was 13 years old,Im now 59 years old. The first hotel I stayed at with my Father was Losflamingos for two or three nights then on to Caleta Hotel which is not called caleta anymore. And let me tell you since then i own a villa behind the convention center for 22 years. I go down there every year and one of my favorite spots is going to hotel Losflamingos for drinks and sunsets.

“Wonderful”

We stayed at the hotel last January. It was wonderful. This hotel was perfect if you want to relax by the pool sipping delicious cocktails and enjoying a breathtaking view. The service is great, the people are very friendly and the food is as good. You must know going in that if you want to be down were all the bars and partying is you should stay elsewhere. The drive would be to much. It is located in old downtown, up in the hills. SO it is a good 40 minutes to the airport. Well worth the drive for us but not maybe everyone. We met a ton of couples who had come there every year for 20, 30, and so on years. That says a lot.
This is a great place if your intent is to relax and soak up the sun.

Staying at the Flamingo is like taking a trip back in time to a more genteel era. A time when people really knew how to relax and chill out.

The hotel is older and a lot of the features look and feel like they haven't been updated since 1940. Don't get me wrong...maintenance is top-notch here, it's just that when you walk into the lobby and see all the pictures of hollywood stars like John Wayne and Johnny Weismuller staring down at you, looking as fresh as if they were hung yesterday, you start to realize that this isn't your mainstream, run-of-the-mill mega resort (as if you'd be there in the first place if that was what you were looking for).

The hotel is small. It's comfortable--dare I say "cozy". It's funky. It's old. It used to be the private domain of a group of Hollywood stars who bought the place lock, stock and barrel and used it as their own private shangrila.

I stayed in Tarzan's House -- a small standalone circular building that is a 2-bedroom private suite with a wrap-around deck and private ramparts built into the cliffs on a bluff over the Pacific. Lay in the hammocks and feel a warm breeze blow through your hair as you rest, or lay out by the swimming pool sipping Acapulco's best Coco Locos.

Don't be surprised if a few local racoons come for a visit as you enjoy dining in the expansive open-air restaurant...

A great, affordable and nostalgic place to hang out for a couple days...
