“Wish we were there longer!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 12, 2011

We were driving to Mexico City from Puerto Escondido and wanted a hotel in Acapulco for one night, and found Las Brias Acapulco on-line. Absolutely everything about this hotel was first class. We speak little Spanish, but the staff made everything easy and very pleasant. The room with the little pool outside overlooking Acapulco Bay at sunset felt too good to be true. We had dinner and breakfast at the restaurants and enjoyed the complimentary shuttle service. The food was wonderful and you could not ask for better service. Our only regret is that we didn't have more time to enjoy the rest of the resort.

We arrived in Acapulco after a ten day cruise through the Panama Canal. We had chosen Las Brisas because it had good reviews on this site.
The staff there was exceptional. Any request had an immediate response. The front desk, concierge, housekeeping, transportation and room service all provided excellent service.
We had a private pool casita and enjoyed the continental breakfast on the balcony. The breakfast was a simple selection of bread/muffins, fruit (usually cantaloupe, watermelon and banana) and coffee. We found it adequate.
The Beach Club was pleasant with two salt water areas and a fresh water pool. Initially we did not realize that you could order food in the pool deck areas. We went to the Conch Restaurant in the Beach Club for lunch.
If you want to walk to restaurants, stores and entertainment, this is not the hotel for you.
We were ready to enjoy the view, and some privacy so it was perfect for us.
We had hired Ismael Silva to pick us up at the pier, give us a city tour and drop us at hotel. This also was perfect. We would highly recommend Ismael as a trusted, professional driver. We used his services throughout our stay there for additional sightseeing, restaurant visits, and rides to airport.
Although there is definitely a very visible police presence, we never felt in danger.
It's a shame that Acapulco is getting such bad press. Take the chance and visit, you won't regret it.

This was our fourth time staying at Las Brisas and this time surely was the best time that we have had yet. The service was outstanding, the room selection wonderful, the entire staff made us feel as we were staying in our home. The news certainly doesn't demonstrate the truth about what is actually happening in Acapulco, it is safe and the staff at the hotel will certainly ensure that. I hight recommend Las Brisas without hesitation

We have been staying at Las Brisas for the past 16 years and we try to make 2 trips/year. This past year we "cheated" and instead went to Cancun; the whole time there, we missed Las Brisas and Acapulco in general, so we agreed that we'd slip away in March for 4 nights to get our Acapulco and Las Brisas "fix", and I'm so glad that we did. No point in repeating the positive things that other guests and have said (or challenging the negative ones), but since we have an interesting perspective as repeat guests, I wanted to point out a few observations from our latest visit.

The hotel is perfectly maintained and the service, as always, is impeccable. Housekeepers remember your name (and believe it or not, actually remember birthdays), servers remember how you like your guacamole (from previous visits), even the pool maintenance person came running over to our casita when he spotted us to welcome us back. All this for a fraction of the price you'd pay at a comparable resort anywhere in the world, let alone a resort city like Acapulco. I always look for subtle changes each trip we take to see if anything is slipping (or improving), especially in light of the decrease in tourism from the negative press which Acapulco finds itself in these days. I'm happy to report that the resort is just as well run as ever, the food just as delicious, the bed as comfortable as I remember, all with views which can't be touched.

The only negative thing to report is not with the hotel, but with the transit police in Acapulco. Sadly, if you rent a car, you will likely be pulled over for a non-existent traffic infraction as you drive from the resort into the city; there is just no way around it. Hold firm, speak only English and under no circumstances offer to pay anything; instead, offer to go to the police station. This can be unnerving but it did save us quite a bit in bribe money which we otherwise would have had to pay. All can be avoided by taking taxis, by the way.

Finally, none of the overhyped violence in Acapulco affects the perfect weather which the area is blessed with; you can't beat 88 degree days and 70 degree nights in March with almost guaranteed sunshine. All in all, a trip to Las Brisas is always a predictably perfect vacation.

We arrived in this beautiful hotel with my son and his new bride, for a three night stay, after a long drive from Cuernavaca and we were delighted by the standard of attention by the staff, who could not do enough to make our stay memorable. When we were taken to our rooms,we were delighted by the high standard and attention to detail in the room, and also the private pool, which the staff cleaned every day and put flowers to float around.
The view from the balcony over Acapulco Bay was stunning and all you had to do was lift the phone and the staff arrived in the pink jeeps to deliver almost anything you required.
The private beach area, which you reached via the free minibus, was great and had shops bars and food ready available and the restaurant in the hotel grounds, was stunning with great views and friendly staff,I would definately recomend this hotel for a holiday and I will certainly be back, but for a longer stay this time........BRILLIANT

To start with, yes it was very expensive. We arrived after 30 hours travelling, absolutely shattered. No sign of the `welcome cocktail´. Taken to our casita and shoved out again, had to sit by the pool for 40+ minutes as the room hadn´t been made since the last people departed! (bearing in mind it was early hours of the morning, no excuse!). Due to the location of our casita (right on a bend) we were awoken early (every day) by traffic outside, powering to get up the hill & round the sharp bend. Aagghh .. :(( Also, sat out by the pool we were on full view of the road and traffic; hardly private. All day you are bothered by staff; one comes to collect your coffee pot, one to drop off laundry and towels, cleaning lady, a man to come brush up, someone else to drop flowers off for your pool, another to clean the pool, someone to check the minibar, someone to collect last-night´s dishes if you ordered room service, someone else to put more water in the pool with a hose (this takes forever ...). Makes you feel very conspicous if you want to sit out at the pool during the day (which, let´s face it, is why you go somewhere like this!).

The worst, absolute worst, part of this place is it´s location. Gorgeous views yes, but you try getting out of the place .. they call you a taxi, and they are on commission with the taxi drivers, so they charge you an absolute fortune ... £10 for a 5 minute ride? Disgusting. And when you try getting a taxi back to the hotel, the drivers know how you are used to being ripped-off so they too try to charge you extortionate prices. Absolutely disgraceful. And this is obviously promoted by the hotel by them charging the drivers of the taxis. We attended an event whilst over there, and a guest at a hotel practially across the road paid a quarter of the price of our taxi in getting to exactly the same place!!

Another thing .. the food. Ugh. Had a couple of meals there. La Concha Beach Club (apparently where you can "enjoy the best of sea food") ... awful. My starter was wrong so had to send it back, they brought another out when my partner had finished his so I had to send it back as I didn´t want to eat on my own! :( My partner had shrimps, but had 5 tiny shrimps in a block of melted cheese, he didn´t eat much of it. He then had lobster but it was overcooked and again he didn´t enjoy it. Very, very expensive for under-average food. Same at the so-called `deli´.. we waited 45 minutes for the girl to make 2 sandwiches! Again, a lot of money for what you receive.

We booked with lastminute.com and were told everything was paid for, in what we paid. If you are going there, don´t book with them! We received a pre-paid travel voucher, assured all was paid for, and therefore were extremely concerned to have them automatically deduct 20 USD per night for tips. We explained to the hotel that we´d been told we´d not have to pay anything from lastminute but their attitude was tough, sort it out with your travel agent. American´s have a culture of tipping, Brit´s do not. We would not tip for bad service, but we would for good. We had no option though, as they removed it from our credit card. Very naughty.

Oh yes, and DON´T use the phone. A 10 minute phone call to British Airways, using the recommended number in the in-room phone book ... ONE HUNDRED POUNDS. Can you believe it???? Absolutely shocking. Ruined our stay completely after finding this out. If they don´t rip you off one way they will in another.

The casitas inside were lovely, but 80% of the lights don´t work, and the sheets/towels/furniture are all shoddy and in need of replacements. Our outside cushion (there´s a piece of built in furniture similar to a bed) was ripped to pieces. Everything is very old and worn when you look closely.

The best part of our holiday was being together, and it wouldn´t matter where we were for that. But shamefully Las Brisas did nothing to contribute to this. We complained upon coming home to Las Brisas and were offered a small % off our next room. Err, thanks but no thanks. Won´t be going back there in a hurry! :((

Las Brisas is a wonderful place if you are fortunate enough to reside in one of the Master Suites with Jacuzzi or other private casitas. My wife and I go there to relax and have COMPLETE privacy. A few units provide the privacy sought. Others do not. If you don't mind having others see you in your pool or laying out beside it, you will be fine. If you are looking for a truly private experience where no one can watch you "relaxing," you will have to chose the casitas that offer that privacy.

The views from Las Brisas are AMAZING!!! You will have to look long and hard to find more beautiful views than you will find here.

Room service breakfast is good (not great and not terrible). We usually snacked throughout the day and ate dinner. Room service dinners are similar to breakfast - good (not great and not terrible).

The people working at Las Brisas work hard to make your vacation a special one. You will be pleased with the level of service.

One thing that made our trip more enjoyable was the introduction to Angel Flores. Angel provides clean and safe transportation and offers tours. He is very knowledgable about Acapulco. You will not be disappointed if you upgrade to Angel. The difference in price is small, especially in relation to the service you receive. The concierge at Las Brisas can make arrangements with Angel for you or you can contact me for his contact information.

EVERYONE should experience this wonderful place at least once. I can't wait until I have the opportunity to return.
