“Sebastian Hernandez personal driver”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 9, 2014

My wife and I visited Acapulco this past February, 2014. We selected Sebastian Hernandez as our personal driver because of his fast and thorough responses to our email inquiries. We booked several tours through him during the week and he provided us with transportation to and from the airport as well. We visited the Flamingo Hotel as part of his City Highlights tour. Sebastian personalized this tour for my wife and me by providing deep and rich history of Acapulco and the attractions we visited. At each stop, including the Flamingo, we had extended stays while he walked with us to provide us with historical background and significance of each place. We drank CocoLocos on the bar patio overlooking a great sunset and surf. The fresh guacamole and chips were very tasty. I definitely recommend Sebastion for all your tour and transportation needs during your stay in Acapulco.

“Classic establishment”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 22, 2014

While rustic nowadays as it's time was well back in the 50's and 60's Los Flamingos gives you the feeling of just what it was like when all the famous stars visited and owned this once gorgeous hotel.

Over the years the hotel has shown it's wear but it is still what I would call a must visit spot. Go and have a heavy handed margarita lol 2 will be all you need to soak it all in while gazing and over the pacific.

I've been fortunate to see whales from the patio deck on more then one occassion. Go just once and enjoy. Breakfast lunch and dinner served. The sunsets hear are wonderful this time of year.

“Recommended by an Acapulco Local...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2013

This restaurant is at Los Flamingos Hotel, high on a cliff overlooking the ocean. We were seated outside, but the view was blocked by bamboo shades to ward off the sunshine. The place is popular for supper and many tables were reserved. We were there on a Thursday afternoon and it was not crowded yet. The special on Thursday is Pozole, a soup made with corn (hominy) and your choice of chicken or pork. A tray of chopped onion, tomatoes, and spices accompanies the soup so one can make it as spicy as desired. It was a large bowl, more than I could eat. My husband had chicken tacos that ended up being taquitos, not what he expected. Others had beef tips served in a spicy pepper and onion saute. We were not too impressed with the meal or the setting...we would have preferred a nice seafood restaurant on the beach. The hotel was established by Hollywood actors John Wayne and Johnny Weismueller (Tarzan) along with other actors from their era.

“Nice atmosphere for Pozole”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 21, 2013 via mobile

Went here on recommendation from Fodor's for traditional Mexican Thursday meal of Pozole. The place has come down quite a ways from its former glory days in the 50's when Hollywood greats would visit. But it has a fresh coat of flamingo pink paint and it is a nice atmosphere. Surrounded by locals enjoying themselves and smoking Cuban cigars. Not crowded or rushed.

We had the Pozole and it came with quite an accompaniment (cheese, breads, radish, limes, etc.). The Pozole was good (according to Fodor's, the best) but not my best meal here. Enjoyed watching the sun set.
