“Relatively Cheap for Americans”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 5, 2013

I went to Saverios for the first time Thursday and the prices were similar to less fancy places I've been to in San Diego. My relative who is from Tijuana told me a lot of high people in government go here and the level of dress showed. We were the only guys not in suits when we went. They didn't seem to have a dress code because I was dressed like crap but I plan on dressing better next time I come here to show some respect. We walked in without a reservation and it was not busy on a Thursday night.

There was a man playing the piano, the inside looked classy with what looked to be old school architecture, and the service was very attentive. I ate a spaghetti dish with their original sauce and it was delicious as hell. This is in the much cleaner part of Tijuana away from what the typical American tourist sees. For middle class Americans and even poorer Americans this is a taste of a much richer life that you wouldn't normally experience in the US. Our total bill which included wine was under $60 when adjusted for the pesos we spent.

“Very good (but not great) upscale food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 10, 2012

This was TJ version of the upscale, Saturday night restaurant in your hometown or suburb -- the place you can count on for a lovely evening. The food was very good, the restaurant was beautiful, and the service was excellent. Saverios is not, however, a live changing gastronomic experience.

Try the sword fish. It's excellent.

One caution: tile floors, bare walls and a huge dining area means that Saverios is

Wine freindly BYOB, if something unique that is not on their extensive list please. in my case Our 20111 vintage dry Moscato (Vinicultores Carnalla-Villafan Mosec) and 2010 OriXen Cab great pairing with those chops!

“Top of the line and second to none.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 9, 2012

Most travelers to Tijuana have no idea that it's become a gastronomic destination and Villa Saverios is at the top of the list of good, world-class restaurants. It's the flagship of the Plasencia family restaurants - Giuseppi's, Casa Plasencia, Erizo, Café Saverios, Caesars, etc. - The executive chef, Manuel Brito, does excellent work and he's always on-site supervising. The ambiance is understated, Mediterranean elegance. There is a private small dining room downstairs in the "cava" [wine-cellar] and another private room off the main dining room. The bar is lively and very popular with Tijuana's gliteratti and there is a large hall upstairs for events and banquets. The menu is Mediterranean - one of the best dishes is the slow-baked beef rib (in the overn for 6 hours!) served with a red-wine reduction. It falls off the bone and is delicious. Service is five-star all the way. Waiters here take their profession seriously - it's a career for them, not a stepping stone to other jobs. The restaurant is located in Tijuana's Centro Gastronómico in the newer developed part of the Tijuana River area; it has its own parking lot with sefl-park and valet service. On Sundays from 1-6 they serve a fantastic Italian buffet family style.

“Beautiful place, good food.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 15, 2012

I like the atmosphere, and the food is also good. The service is very professional. The wine list is more than adequate and it seems to be the place to be seen in TJ.
