“Had a great time!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 20, 2010

The weather was rainy but still had a blast. The beach was accessible and the food at the restaturant was excellent. Truly great margaritas and great service. Felt secure, can't wait to go back specially in the summer.

Poco Cielo in Baja was, by far, the most beautiful place we have ever stayed. We just happened to be driving by around lunch time and stopped to eat (fantastic margaritas and entrees!). We ended up staying the night. The view is spectacular and cannot be beaten. The staff was super friendly and gave us a great deal (even though the normal prices are little high - what else would you expect with such stellar service and atmosphere?). We stayed in their largest room and enjoyed every second of it. There's no phone or tv and that's the way we LIKE it! Who needs that stuff when you've got your own veranda overlooking the ocean. The bathroom is fun (like a cave) and clean. There is a bar there and a nice one next door, too. Absolutely a perfect place to stay and just enjoy the atmosphere.

Poco Cielo lives up to its name. This is a superior ocean-front location. Some of the most beautiful coastline we have seen in the world. We enjoyed the Polynesian Room, however all the rooms are uniquely decorated. The owner, Cheryl is gracious, warm and a delight to know. It felt as if she was opening her home to us, not a typical hotel experience. The staff was unbelievably attentive and practically anticipated our desires. AND the food, Wow! the food was outstanding. Did not have a bad meal and we were there a week. When we said we wanted to go to the wine country, Cheryl arranged for a driver to take us there for a nominal amount and we toured wineries we would have never have found (including one where the driver literally drove through a small river to get us there, quite an advneture but the best stop on the tour). At the end of a long day Cheryl arranged for both of us to get a massage on our deck off our room. Just perfect. Needless to say, cannot wait to get back.
P.S. Did I mention what a great value the room, food, massages and tour was? Don't tell Cheryl

Planned a one night stay, based on the reviews, for our drive back up Baja to the US. Walked in and loved the place. We had booked the Polynesian Room (the biggest and most expensive room). The room was very large and had a view that has no rival. We dropped our luggage and went out for the day. Upon our return, we stopped at the restaurant to eat. The food was delicious and the service was great.

Then, at 10pm we went to our room to unwind and go to sleep. Let the nightmare begin. Very few of the lights in the room worked; and there were very few lights to begin with. There was no TV or phone. Went to take a shower in the cave like bathroom and found that there was no hot water; that after leaving it run for 30 minutes. The room was cold as it was 46 degrees outside, so we went to the front desk to inquire about the heat. We were informed that the room had no heater or a/c and we should use plenty blankets for the night. I froze all night and got absolutely no sleep. The room was not very clean, some of the blinds on the windows were broke and laying on the floor and the bedroom was exposed to the world whenever you had a light on. The plumbing for the shower/toilet, was not vented properly and the sewer gases would back up every time you flushed. Imagine the smell.

We went to check out shortly after the sun rose, only to find that the front desk was not monitored. Banging the service bell, the manager came out in his pajamas to assist us. Wanting to pay in cash, he could not find out our total as the restaurant personel had not turned in their receipts from the night before. Calling the restaurant manager at home, we came to a final price. Surprise, the hotel had no change to accept cash. We were forced to put the bill on our Visa; and they charged us six percent for the luxury.

The room is overpriced even if everything was ok. I will never stay at this place again and warn all that do that they are in for a shock.

Had a few problems with our reservation and hotel staff which wasn't handled as well as I expected. The room was a little worn down and dirty, I have had much worse in Baja though! I love the view there and would definitely go again!
