My husband and I just got back from a terrific vacation in Los Cabos. We visited Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo. Both locations were fun but in different ways. San Jose del Cabo was a quieter town with great shopping whereas Cabo San Lucas is the party, Spring Break type town. I enjoyed both. However, my favorite stop during this trip was to Todos Santos, home of Hotel California, which may or may not be the famed venue in the Eagles' song, depending on who you ask. Todos Santos is quaint and very artsy with fun shopping.

We stayed at Dreams the first part of our trip and at the Hilton Los Cabos the second part. Dreams is by far the best all-inclusive we've ever visited. Sometimes all-inclusives have iffy food and weak drinks. However, Dreams did not live up to that stereotype. The food was good, the drinks delicious, and the service was great!

The Hilton was FABULOUS!! It actually reminded us of the Four Seasons in Costa Rica which is a high standard for comparison! The pool itself is reason to check it out.

One last thing I want to mention was the Dinner Cruise on the Caborey. We signed up for it to get a closer look at Land's End - where the Sea of Cortez meets the Pacific - but ended up pleasantly surprised at the awesome band as well as the drinks, appetizers and shows. The voyage is a little rocky and if the water is too rough (like it was for us), you can't go over to the Pacific side, but it adds to the fun and excitement.

We ended our trip sadly, vowing to return, and encourage anyone to visit Los Cabos as there is something for everyone...golf, spas, shopping, bars/clubs, and even activities for kids at most of the resorts.

Your first glimpse of the beach at Los Cabos is breathtaking -- the desert meets the beach. It's so hot and the water looks so inviting but no one is swimming! Sure, there are surfers and boaters, but no one is playing in the waves. Turns out the undertow is so strong that swimming is not safe. We stuck to the pool at the hotel...but the water is cold. Since Los Cabos is in the desert, the day is hot but the nights are cool so the water doesn't really warm up too much. Don't go to Cabo thinking you're going to be sitting under a palm tree on the beach and taking a dip when you get hot. Go to the Dominican Republic instead!

Just back from an expensive week in Los Cabos. The whole place is set up to extract(extort) money from tourists. This place offers no value for what you are paying.

Restaurant called The Office -Mexican Fiesta Night. A flank steak on the menu for 480 pesos about $45.00.

Villa Del Arco - Time share trap- Had a bag containing 30 movies stolen while we waited to register. The registration process is dragged out so that the time share sharks can approach you with "help" about Los Cabos. They then maneuvere you towards a free breakfast. In the morning they tried to have us provide visa and other id to have breakfast. We declined and were made to feel like trash for saying no. Nothing at the Villa is free...nothing! We paid almost $4,000.00 for a week. This price is the on sale price after a 35% discount. Every night there was drag racing going on til 4 or 5 in the morning in the empty river bed next door. The stench of raw sewage forced us to close our windows. A bottle of water in the room $7.00. A hamburger and fries at one of the restaurants $17.00. It also has no ambience whatsoever. Thank god there is a new wal mart not far away...at least you can trust some things.

This is typical of all of Los Cabos. Taxis, restaurants, airport, retailers they are all in on it. Some people just wear nicer clothes when they rip off tourists. There is an agenda for every thing in this town. Saying hello could be the biggest mistake one could make. We learned to offer to buy anyone who approached us to buy breakfast for them, but we would need to see their ID and VISA card number. They would laugh and leave us alone. Los Cabos makes Tokyo or Paris cheap. There is no value here. My kids were as happy, as I was, to leave there and to never return.

I am sure there are towns or cities in Mexico unlike Los Cabos.
A huge disappointment. For anyone even considering a time share purchase. I believe you are either nuts or it is early onset of Alzheimers. Why anyone, who is sane, would enter into contract with anyone in that business is beyond me.

Hope this helps.

we had the opportunity to stay 5 nights at Cabo San Lucas, and 2 nights at San Jose del Cabo.
If yoiui can choose, go to Cabo San Lucas, all the attractions, restaurants and clubs are in Cabo San Lucas. San Jose del Cabo has nothing, go there if you want to stay in the hotel only, or like to pay $35 each way to go to Cabo San Lucas.
