Alberto and Karla are great hosts and very accommodating. Let us borrow snorkel mask and fins, beach towels, and cooler during our stay. Arranged our day trip for us; we went via boat with a local fisherman to Isla Coronado.
Location is a block from the malecon (boardwalk) and beach. 5 minute stroll to the plaza (town square) where there are many places to eat. Walking distance to anything in Loreto Centro. Overall the hotel is in an excellent location.
The hotel provides free chilled drinking water which was great because we simply refilled our water bottles instead of having to go out and buy bottles of water (saved us quite a bit of money!).
Room: good water pressure, modern and quiet a/c unit , we chose to not get our sheets exchanged and room cleaned daily which saved us 50 pesos per night.
We made full use of patio area which has tables chairs and patio recliners. We sipped on cold Mexican beer in the warm evenings in this cozy space.
During our 5 night stay we met some fellow guests of Hotel Luna and had breakfast with one couple and shared drinks one evening with a different group. The vibe created by Alberto, Karla and the hotel is one of community and friendliness.
[A bit of a tangent but we really loved our tour to isla Coronado mainly due to our guide I mentioned above. His name is Don Alvaro, his boat is Sylvia IV at the marina and he is a local native of Loreto. He was raised as a fisherman on that coast line and has a deep and passionate affection for the ecological preservation efforts of the marine park. He showed us the sea lion preserve and pointed out manta rays swimming alongside the boat. He also has a keen eye and intuition for the wildlife and managed to identify a large group of dolphins swimming in the water. We went out to where they were and had a once-in-a-lifetime experience having the dolphins swim near the boat (see pics I uploaded!). Don Alvaro uses his panga (boat) primarily for sportfishing excursions but he is also very knowledgable about the preservation efforts of the marine wildlife in the area.]
Paying is made simple with PayPal. Hotel Luna does not take credit cards but Alberto has Paypal which made the transaction a snap for me on my iPhone.
Gracias Alberto and Karla for the wonderful experience, we will be sharing with all of our friends!
