We stayed two nights at the Posada's Cabin in San Javier. Having been in San Javier two times before we know that this quiet place is not for everyone. But if you like to get away from it all, and be in a magical setting, then this is a place you might consider. The Cabin is a little walk from the second Mission in Baja California. There is only one place that prepares food in town for sale.....just to the right of the Mission....it is like being in someone's home but with a small menu...the food is good, the beans are great and if the daughter is making the eggs....get them.....The cabin itself is of a charming design (the owner, Jesus Cortes is a architect out of Loreto) and from a distance the cabin looks like just another small home in San Javier. As you get closer you realize it is really well designed and just fits into the small rural community. The cabin is nicely decorated and the 2 double beds are comfortable. The lighting is solar although the town has in the past two years had electricity installed. We went straight to the cabin from the Loreto Airport after a short stop to pick up bread and fruit. If going, we would recommend a few nights at the owner's Posada del Cortes in Loreto to stock up on some simple items, buy some ice and a styrofoam chest, then head up to San Javier. Not a lot to do there but the setting is magical, the residents very friendly and it's fun to cook out doors at the outside kitchen.....We would return to the Cabin San Javier if we are ever near Loreto again.
