“Nice Location and Hotel - Aweful room view - avoid 328”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 3, 2013

We stayed here 3 night just before new year and booked with Hotels.com. We must have been given the worst room in the hotel with a balcony and view of the car port and golf buggy parking right at the front of the hotel. Room 328 room is right next to the main entrance and the constant arrival and departure of vehicles to the front is a real annoyance , the balcony offered no privacy and we had to keep the curtains closed most of the time.

The room furnishing was nice and my review would have been much better if the location of our room had been different. I honestly believe that the hotel should not even rent out this room as its a disgrace compared to the the rest of the property.

The rest of the hotel is beautiful, entrance area is huge and airy, the pool area is also very nice, with a computer that guests can use. The beach is a bit of a disappointment as the sea has a lot of seaweed and entry into the sea is not easy as you have wade through the seaweed and shuffle to avoid getting stung by stingrays - i didnt try it.

The marina area next to the hotel has a small supermarket and also the fantastic Azul Marino restaurant. The food here in my experience is much better than in the hotel and is great value. I would happily eat at this restaurant for my entire vacation.

There are also a couple of other restaurants in the marina area which offer variations to what the hotel can provide.

I would consider staying here again if we had a different room as the overall experience and surroundings are very restful.

Room Tip: Avoid room 328

They have great promo rates on their web site. Do not walk in and pay retail. Fortunately, they are helpful about this as I walked in without a reservation as their web site wouldn't allow me to make one from the USA, but they let me use the lobby computer to make one on the spot using the in line promo rate.
They were almost 100% full with conferences so getting the room was a process, but they plied us with drinks as we waited for house keeping and negotiated on rates and inclusions (breakfast). Jorge the manager got involved and was very helpful!!
Once that was over it was great. The conferences all left the next day so the place was only 50% occupied then. Beautiful pool and beach club with another pool. Free valet parking. Lovely landscaping. Comfortable, modern rooms. The shower in the middle of the room is very unique but was not a problem at all.

Room Tip: all rooms are either garden of sea view. sea view is just a higher floor. garden was adequate.

On behalf of all the Costabaja Resort & Spa family, I would like to thank you for choosing our property for your recent stay in Baja California Sur.

Earlier this morning I received the satisfaction questionnaire you filled when checking out. I truly appreciate your feedback, since it is a fundamental management tool to keep improving our services.

Costa Baja is a beautiful resort in a gorgeous setting with extensive amenities and a wide range of guest accommodations. During our 3-day visit we especially enjoyed our meal at Azul Marino (the yellowtail tartar was SOOO good!) and an especially relaxing aromatic massage at the Espiritu Spa; I would return in a heartbeat for these alone if Costa Baja was closer.

The level of service is very high throughout, and potential buyers will appreciate the knowledge and professionalism of the residential sales team. All in all, a very special place. And do try the wines of Baja!

Room Tip: Note for friends traveling together: the 2-bedroom homes in Las Colinas include 1 very nice bedroom...

Revisiting Costa Baja is a delight. The resort just gets better and better. We have been coming here since the early stages of development and each visit brings more polish and nicer amenities. The staff has always been personable and eager to be of service. The Marina is world class and a welcome haven for pleasure boats as the enter or depart the Sea of Cortez. The golf course has views from every hole. La Paz is a clean and safe city. We have stayed at Costa Baja as a couple and as a part of small and large groups. Each time was comfortable and fun.
And exploring the Sea of Cortez is a wondrous experience.

Room Tip: End rooms have large patios. Villas are amazing

Wonderful place. Family friendly. English speaking or Spanish your choice stayed in the hotel the first few night due to the Baja 1000 finishing in town then moved to Vistamar condo which was huge. Private beach, infinity pool was great and the place was impeccable.

The room and grounds are impeccable. You will be pleased with the value of the hotel. Fantastic beach club, main pool was very nice as well. We were disappointed in the food. Otherwise this is a great place to stay.

Excellent Resort. Checked in Jan 12, '13 and stayed 2 nights. We were staying at a B&B in La Paz and took a little self tour of CostaBaja the day before we decided to check in. I called them to make reservations and the price for 2 nights was over $80 more than the website quotes. Asked and they told me it is les expensive to book online. So I tried, website would not confirm my reservations. Called back and it took a couple people to finally give me the web quote sonce the site would not work. Reserve online if possible. What a place..!!! Spotless, beautiful, relaxing and for about the same price we would pay for a middle of the road hotel the northwest!!! A bit out of La Paz but only takes about 8 to 10 minutes to get to town. Do take the time to walk around the harbor. We went on tour with Sergio of the "Fractional" plan they have available for semi purchasing houses across the street. Pretty spendy, but spectacular views from the available houses. We had to pass... Tour took about 30 minutes. They offered us a "swim with the whale sharks" free the next day of we went. Unfortunately there was a weather system moving in and they had to cancel due to harbor closure. They did offer a free round of golf instead. Was ok... we hung around the pool which is heated with an interesting panel system. I swam for a while.. had a drink, and relaxed! This place is fantastic. The buffet breakfast is a tad spendy for what they offer. What they had for food was average.
