We have just returned from a week-end in Baja California Sur and we stayed 2 nights in the Hotel Lorimar in La Paz.
The hotel is located one block from the Malecon (Sea-front) and right next to all city activities : restaurants, shops, bars and night-clubs.
We paid $38 per night for an immaculate room, smelling fresh (as well as the towels and sheets AND bed-cover) with a brand new bathroom and air conditionning (mandatory in La Paz during summer). Street parking available.
Their is a little patio and decoration making the place agreable. Around 20 rooms.
The inconvenience is that you have to speak at least one sentence of spanish before calling to make a reservation (they only ask for your name, they trust you). At this time of the year we could as well have shown-up without booking. The staff is really really nice. Even if it takes you 15 minutes to ask a question, they will wait and be nice / try to help ! They can call for you and make reservation for a boat trip. They gave us a morning call by knocking on the door for our morning flight : very reliable, it was 6AM sharp !
You cannot ask for more, unless you like the impersonnal big resorts...
