“Magical-beautiful relaxing B&B”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 6, 2012

We wanted an oceanfront bed and breakfast because my husband and I love the sound of the waves lapping on the beach, the songbirds ‘~~but most of all, we enjoy walking along a quiet beach without a lot of people, enjoying the closeness to nature and without a hassle getting there. THAT IS CASA KOOTENAY! Thank you Leann, you made it wonderful in every way! The delicious nutritious food presented so nicely, the VIEW**, first class room – so comfortable, great HOT showers, the kayaks, the Quiet, the magic with the dolphins. Then add to all of that your friendly warmth, sense of humor and true hospitality in helping us plan other activities and ensuring we had such a wonderful time. Next year, we will come for two full weeks, we promised the dolphins... “S”

Room Tip: the best room is available to all-the upstairs outside patio, the best~~~

We loved staying at Casa Kootenay with our wonderful hostess Leeanne.. Apart from being super friendly and helpful with all our outings, Leeanne also prepared us the most delicious hot full breakfasts. We enjoyed having our morning coffee on the rooftop, ((what a spectacular view!!!)) as well as seeing the boats, pelicans feeding and the kayakers, and to be appreciated was the great long walks on the non-crowded beach fronts. The rooms were super clean, beds most comfortable and the air conditioner worked great. Lots of good stuff, the wi-fi worked great, there’s a BBQ, fridge and microwave if you want to have an evening at home relaxing enjoying the stars while sitting in the hot tub. She lent us her towels to go on other expeditions. Kids are welcomed. The night life is ten minutes away and easy to get to with a cab being five dollars.

Loved the water sports, kayak and wind boarding, ((Lee was an excellent teacher)) and was great to kayak to the mangroves. Being on the Sea of Cortez, the water was not rough, warm, clean and inviting and the kids loved to go swimming. La Paz felt safe and inviting and the locals were friendly and helpful, being so kind to us with our lack of Spanish. This place really lived up to the reviews for value, service, cleanliness, and you will get a very memorable vacation. We are looking forward to going back... .

Thank you Leanne! We had an amazing time in La Paz and the little nest called Casa Kootenay! We will definetely be back and this time we are bringing friends! La Paz and Casa Kootney was a stop on our way to be married in Los Cabos and it turned out to best part of our trip...well with the exception of marrying the most loving, handsome and kindest man I have ever known. In La Paz we completely relaxed and enjoyed the sites and looked forward to coming home(Casa Kootney) to our cozy little bed and hotub. We watched amazig sunsets from the rooftop and ate like royalty. We actually missed the tranquility of La Paz and CK while we were amongst all the tourist noise of Los Cabos.
All our best,
Leo and Dolores

We just arrived back home after spending 9 days at Casa Kootenay and the city of La Paz. Our vacation was perfect! We could not have found a friendlier, more private and relaxing place for our La Paz visit. The hostess, Leeanne really knows how to make you feel at home. This was a romantic vacation for my husband and I to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary. The room was extremely comfortable and roomy. The bed was unlike any other bed I have ever found at a hotel or resort, so comfortable you could just lay in your room all day...except there was too much more to enjoy. A private romantic hot tub, a gorgeous roof top with comfortable shade and chairs to while away the hours reading or watching the wildlife, a wonderful front porch and beach area to sit and watch the hummingbirds or pelicans or any number of other birds. The geckos barking all around you. Our hostess offered to set up the rooftop for us one night with a wonderful outdoor bed, complete with candles so that we could sleep up there and enjoy the full moon and the stars. Another night she built a bonfire for us out on the beach. There are abundant water sport activities to enjoy right there on the grounds, or so much more to see and do out in La Paz.

This bed and breakfast is unlike any other that I have ever experienced, and a great price too! We also had the most delicious breakfasts made for us hot and fresh every morning, the hostess is a chef as well as a certified dive instructor and extremely knowledgeable of the hospitality industry, so she pays strict attention to all of the little details, while still relaxed and friendly and always ready to meet your needs. From picking you up at the airport, to recommending the best restaurants based on your preferences, to helping you find the most fun activities and beaches, she is there for you. We will definitely be returning as soon as we can for more fun and relaxation.

Room Tip: There are two casitas, and both are lovely. They share a bathroom located in between the two rooms...

Just walking into Casa Kootenay gives you a tingle of anticipatory excitement. The entrance way has an arched flower bower over it. Then you walk into the central courtyard displaying five colours of bouganvillea mixed with other plants--they seem to "whisper" welcome--relax--this is our Sea of Cortez piece if Paradise. The casitas are a wonderful size with all amenities but, the bed, that is to die for.It was so comfortable with a lot of character--I love the tall ceilings. The main House is too grand for words. Imagine 11.5 ft. ceilings with arched glass doors open to the sea and to the courtyard. The sheer size of the living space makes one feel very spoiled to be there. There is a lovely back deck with more Mexican flora and cacti and a wonderful lounge area to sit comfortably (very happily) to enjoy a beverage and watch the water just in front of you. Dolphins can be seen playing in the water, the majestic pelicans look like water dancers as they dive simultaneously for their food. They look like they are providing you with a great show. At the end of the day, watching the sunset is totally the cherry on the cake--from the top of the house or else on the beach--your life takes on a special meaning when you see the beautiful display from mother nature. WE loved Casa Kootenay, we loved La Paz, we loved Carlos the gardener, we loved trying to learn some Spanish to speak with the locals. There is only thing that we didn't like--we had to return home!! This was a trip of a lifetime and we're looking at real estate ads for La Paz. Leeanne Koi and the Casa Kootenay are one unit with their perfect fit. Our trip was mid February when the Carnivale was on and that was also truly exciting--we loved everything!! Terry & Hennie Webster, Creston, B.C. Canada

We have gone through our pictures but we didn't take any as beautiful as the ones already posted on the site. When I first saw Casa Kootenay, my only thought if a picture is worth a thousand words, how can this look like it is 20 times bigger and nicer than the pictures!!

Room Tip: Both rooms are wonderful but one (The Columbia Room) has the big queen bed and the other has a coup...

I enjoyed a wonderful relaxing stay at Casa Kootenay in Febuary of this year. The casitas have everything you could want. Very comfortable and exceptionally clean. Beautiful relaxing courtyard and scenic view of the ocean from the main house front porch. The breakfasts were exceptional, and you really feel at home here.

This place is incredible, I spent almost two weeks here and had a wonderful trip. Our Host Leeann was amazing and new everywhere to go. She is a master diver and will take you out to some amazing snorkling and diving trips if you wish. Suggest great places to eat and views to go see. The accommodations are top rated, she makes you feel like you are at home. Swim with whales, see the seals, watch the beautiful sunsets, some fun shopping and so much adventure if thats your thing or just hang out and enjoy the views with a couple of drinks. I would recommend this place to everyone and also I will be going back. Thank you Leeann for a an amazing trip. See you soon!
