We stayed at PDM back in June of this year. We were there during a heat wave, so it was hot in the direct sun but in the shade, by the pool, on the water, on the balcony it was beautiful. One of the best trips i was ever on. Everything was spectacular, below is a small collection of our experiences and recommendations. Enjoy
We stayed in a 2br/3bth condo and it was out of this world, 3 great balconies and a huge amount of space, the bathrooms were great nice tub and shower separate. Every night we would relax on the balcony with a glass of wine, a modelo, or a cuban and watch the sunset..we even had dinner out there one night.
Staff at PDM:
The staff is second to none they made sure your stay was great, service with a smile is an understatement. They were very personal and interacted if you wanted them to or they would leave you alone if you did not engage them...funny enough, When we said we were from Jersey they all asked if we knew Ronnine, Snookie, Pauly D and the Situation etc..lol it was pretty funny because everyone was fans of the show.
Activities on the Island:
On the island we played golf, relaxed by the pool, went swimming and detached from our everyday lives watching the picturesque sunset every night, it was the same one each night but as beautiful as the night before. We kayaked out in the ocean to find the whale sharks but they were already gone for the season i think...You can play horse shows or relax and swim all day..there were times when it was only us 2 couples by the pool relaxing and drink margaritas from the swim up bar and ordering food.
Golf was great, it was hot so get out there early, but the course was awesome, watch out if you hit your ball in the desert, cause we heard there were snakes!
Food on Island:
Is kind of limited, there is a small restaurant for breakfast and lunch in the clubhouse of the golf course which was great for breakfast! There is a swim up bar and outdoor restaurant where you can get lunch and dinner at..they had FREE pizza night during the week..They cooked some great stuff and if you bring your fresh ctach they will cook that as well..ASK THE BARTENDER FOR THE MARIJUANA CHEESE BURGER (It is not a secret code or anything like that) and he will cook you the MOST AMAZING Cheeseburger you have ever had. It contains peppers, onions, avocado, some cheeses and a bunch of other items, it was so good my mouth is watering now, I live in the NYC metro area so i like to think i know a good cheese burger and this one was the best one i have ever had, i was impressed! other than those places there is a little market where the items are $$$$$$$ , so we recommend stopping at walmart and get some food and snacks there and cook a meal one night in the condo!
In Town/Off Island (Food):
We went into town a bunch, the restaurants near the water taxi are pretty good, we found a little street down the malecon that reminded us of a section of south beach Miami, this place had an amazing restaurant called the 3 skeletons or something, they were a new place with amazing food..I had some cactus dish in a cauldron type bowl, it was spicy and very flavorful, I wish i could have that dish as i write this review.
If you want the best fish tacos ever you go to the tail hunter..they were out of this world.
There is a place a block away from the water taxi where the food is very cheap for 4 adults with drinks it came to $60 American, and we ate like kings..and the food was really good as well, down the street from there there was another place perched up on a hill with a great rooftop/balcony bar..they had karaoke if you're into that sort of thing.
In Town/Off Island (Activities):
We took a cab to Tecelote Beach...where we didnt even realize Jon Stamos was sitting at the bar hanging out with some locals..the view was amazing, the water was clear, great snorkeling down the beach near the cliffs and rocks, if you swim around far enough around the bend you can find a reallyt cool beach protected by rocks and in accessible by foot as there are cliffs on both sides...WARNING though you must be a GOOD swimmer to make it back around the bend and fight the currents.
Tecelote had great beach bars and drinks and food was very reasonable, you can rent wave runners for like $50 etc..it was a blast.
You can stop at another beach right around here but there is not much going on there the water is very flash and shallow but the rock formations are great.
We also rented a car and drove to Todos Santos to see Hotel California, which was pretty awesome..we drove around that town and visited the surfing colony of Los Cerritos...
We tried to do it all and we will definitely go back, our suggestion is to stay as long as you can.
But Make sure you:
- Get Fish Tacos at Tailhunter (he can also set you up with a nice fishing trip but he is a little $$$ compared to the guys along the malecon, but he gives you a better feeling of comfort and safety)
- Get a Marijuana Cheese Burger by the pool
- Go golfing
- Take the Kayaks out and look for whale sharks (you have to go really far out)
- Stop at walmart to pick up beer and snacks to take to your condo
- rent a car and go to the town of todos santos for some shopping (they have tourist stuff, but better, la paz does not)
- go to tecelote its a great beach
and im sure there is more that i am forgetting
