“Great beach”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 21, 2014

We spent a few hours at this little beach on a busy day during La Semana Santa. The beach was packed with Mexican families enjoying themselves and spending some leisure time together. It had been 33 years since I visited the area and I was very impressed by the services offered here:
1. Ample, safe, secure parking with a few Policia Muncipal guys keeping an eye out.
2. Wheelchair access right from the parking lot to the beach with special areas for parking your chair under a shady palapa.
3. Lifeguards AND a Coast Guard boat just offshore.
4. Roped swimming areas to keep out watercraft.
5. Recycling stations for beach garbage!
It's nice to see a clean and organized beach, not the wild and raw beach I remember but so much better than it could have become. There for everyone to enjoy, and many were!

“The Best for Snorkeling”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 8, 2014

We have not been to Chileno for years and could not believe the transformation. They have done an amazing job of making this beautiful beach 100% wheelchair accessible. A great new ramp and boardwalk lead to numerous palapas for you to find shade protection. It is of course very popular with the tour companies. To escape the busy beach and active waters go to your right when you reach the beach. There is a little path that leads you over the hill and down to a secluded beach. There are no vendors and very few of the tour people come over that far to snorkel. The snorkeling is great and if you are nervous you only have to go out a few feet to enjoy the fish (stay to the left of the bay for the fish). We spent a lot of time here this trip and find the coral is superior if you go the the far right ( go into the water just before you have to climb over the rocks to the third bay). We use to go to Santa Maria to snorkel but there is no comparison and would only go back there to have a swim. The beach is cleaned every morning, unless you get there too early! Parking is as secure as it can be and the overall improvements are grand. Click 'like' if you found this helpful.

“Playa Chileno. Excelent for snorkel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 31, 2013

We took this tour with Cabo adventures. It was an unique experience since I'd never done before. The beach was beautiful, the water clear enough to see the bottom and all the multicolor marine life. You can do different activities like kayak, paddle boarding, snorkel with the sea scooter. Really fun. I really enjoyed it. Sunscreen recommended and sunglasses

“Where the locals go”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 24, 2013

Playa Chileno, also known as Chileno Bay or Chileno Beach, is very close to Santa Maria beach (see my other review on Santa Maria). It is along the corridor close to San Lucas. It's a place to snorkel or swim. On weekends, you will find some local family at the beach, with kids playing around.

While there are very little tourists on the beach, it is a popular place for the snorkeling boats. When we were there, we saw 2 big boats about 10 feet away from the beach. One of the boat blasting loud music which I find it disturbing the tranquility of the otherwise beautiful beach.

There are toilets facility but it is extremely dirty. Stay away unless you really have to go.

They have a ramp for wheelchair to the beach.

If you are driving there, watch out for big holes on the road. Just be careful when you walk in the bush area. We spotted a little rattle snake near the parking lot.
