“Absolutely wonderful!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 22, 2010

I simply adore this hotel! It is tucked in a quiet hotel, but the tourist police is just 100 steps away from the hotel. Check-in was quick, n we were given rooms on the second floor. Room was so clean n spacious, n the towels were folded into the shape of an elephant, so cute! There's a balcony with sunchairs n overlooked the enticing swimming pool. Rooms are very far apart from one another, which is good for privacy, especially for couples. Bathroom was spacious n clean, without creeping mould or mildew. The minibar is charged at a reasonable price, but do hold ur urge to open the homemade cookies as it is available for breakfast. There's a minimart abt 10 mins walk from the hotel, n food resturants downthe street. Do try the roadside hawkers as the price is really cheap (abt 2 US dollars for each dish), n taste exactly like those sold in Thai resturants. Breakfast buffet serves the usual stuff, not really a great spread but it does fills u up. Really felt secured in this hotel though it's quiet, n we slept soundly, especially my partner, who is a light paranoid sleeper, ha. Really can't bear to leave this hotel on the last day, n I'll be going back to krabi mainly because of the hotel, relaxing indeed!

We stayed already 3 times in Krabi La Playa and never left disappointed... This is not one of those super fancy resorts and the rooms are even quite basic but the location is absolutely perfect (food court next door, walking distance from the beach), they have a great and lovely pool, a decent breakfast, very large rooms with individual terraces and a service that is a good as it should be... Add to this that they are one of the best deal in Krabi when it come to value for the money and you get a good recipe for a good stay that leaves you enough in the wallet to spend it elsewhere.

My husband and I spend 4 days and 3 nights at this hotel for our honeymoon. It was a very comfortable and relaxing stay. No real complaints about the room. We were happy that the hotel separated the bath tub and shower area because some hotels tend to combine both which results in the bathroom being small. They also provided a flat screen TV and we actually watched some pretty good movies on TV at night.

The only real complaint would be that the air-conditoning takes 15-20 minutes to cool down the room. So if you returned to your hotel room in the afternoon, you will have to be a bit patient as the temperature outside the hotel can get pretty high.

This hotel also provides a good spread for breakfast. The swimming pool is pretty large and the landscaping is tastefully done. Staff were generally friendly and helpful.

The hotel is located sligtly further from the main Ao Nang shops which provides for a peaceful stay. If you do not mind walking for 5-7 minutes to the main shops, this hotel will suit your taste.

There is actually quite a lot to do in Krabi. Besides the island tours, you can also go kayakking, diving, rock climbing, elephant rides, jungle trekking, etc. Food is quite expensive in Ao Nang. If you are eating at a restaurant, a simple plate of fried rice can cost you 800 baht which is about RM8 and that is quite expensive even by Kuala Lumpur standards. I guess the price of food is high as Krabi attracts a lot of Europeans, Americans and Australians. Do try the hawker food stalls as you can get the same dish for half the price.

Overall, this hotel is a good choice and Krabi is indeed a beautiful island.

Excellent hotel - rooms big and shutters open between bathroom and room which really makes them feel spacious. Pool really good though a lot of shade and pool bar expensive - but great area for chilling out. Staff friendly - lunch food excellent but not cheap. Breakfast average typical buffet.
At one end of Ao Nang - but within easy reach of both beaches.

Come out of hotel up street to main road turn right to Norpharrat beach and go to Luna Restaurant - great Penang and massaman curry very cheap - great service and superb place to watch sunset.

Turn left at main road - walk towards Ao Nang beach on right restaurant called Chaba excellent food reasonably priced. Walk along beach front keep going to the end - The Last Cafe is a superb place for a beer and chilling watching the world go by.
Great service and staff can be found at O'Malley's bar - sea front road halfway down behind the first row of shops.
For a more expensive meal but superb Thailander - follow road round and it is way up the right.

Thoroughly recommend visiting Ao Nang fab place planning to return in Nov!!

Returned from this hotel last week and want nothing more than to go back there. OK it's just about ready for a refurb but the rooms are large, the showers work well, breakfast is excellent and the staff are charming. Make sure you have a thai massage by the lovely pools this place helped make our holiday special.

We stayed for 9 nights at this hotel and it is a clean fairly modern hotel, It has a lift if needed. The pool area is nice but is not that big and beds could be in short supply some days.

We had breakfast each day and found a reasonable amount of choice but cooking your own bacon was a novelty which soon wore off.

The staff at this resort were nice and friendly. There did not seem to be a lot of staff for a hotel this size and they seemed to be stretched a bit thin.

The hotel is down a little side road which is a bit scruffy but the grounds themselves were fine. Having stayed in Ao Nang before we found this to be a quieter area but only 2/3 minutes away from shops, restaurants etc. We would jump in the local tuk tuks and go to the other side of Ao Nang (near McDonalds) which was much busier. This was a very cheap journey.

The beach area nearest to this hotel is beautiful (not main Ao Nang beach) you can walk for miles and catch the long boat excursions, it is a national park so no sun loungers are allowed, but the rock formations in the sea are a sight to behold.

Krabi town is a working town and not particularly pretty but well worth a visit just to look around. The traffic lights are something else! (catch local buses, much cheaper than taxis)

I stayed at La Playa with a large group of friends and found the staff incredibly friendly and helpful - we celebrated a birthday there and they were very accommodating and offered to make special arrangements for us (eg for a cake, drinks on arrival) without us having to ask. They also arranged speedboat trips for us and had many suggestions as to what to do in the area. The rooms were lovely, especially the ground floor rooms that open into the pool, and the towels shaped like elephants were a great touch. We spent plenty of time at the swim-up bar and having massages by the pool, overall it was a great and relaxing trip with no hassles, for us La Playa more than delivered on its promises. I have been to Thailand many times and stayed in similar places, this is by far the best value for money that I have come across. I would definitely stay there if I were to return to Krabi for another trip.
