“Good hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 week ago

Situated a short walk from the most busy area in Ao Nang. Rooms are nice, but it is highly recommended that you get a balcony facing the pool. Pool is great. Breakfast is a bit disappointing, but ok. You can catch longtailboats right across the street, which is great! Stayed for four nights, would stay here again!

I had read several comments on the hotel and remembered that I should avoid Building A. But the hotel was so fully booked that there was no way to move to the other two buildings the arrival day. But the room was actually OK. One of the lamp on the wall was loose and did not light up but was fixed by the staff quickly. I found the following positive things about the hotel:
1) tasty breakfast 2) very close to the Wang Sai Pier 3) close to the beach 4) easy to get a taxi or tut tut 5) staff smiling and professional enough 6) the logo of the hotel, two owls, very cute 7) next door you can find a fair money exchange booth and a good travel agency 8) many restaurants around
What I don't like: AC noisy

Stayed her for our last 5 days of our holiday. Only rooms available were superior rooms at over £100 a night. The room was massive and beautifully decorated. The view wasn't the best at back of hotel in C block with a view of a building site. The front of house staff were very friendly and helpful. Lovely pools and a lovely young girl serving at the swim up bar. Breakfast was ok but had to keep asking for certain things and not enough staff to cover at busy times. Lovely bar overlooking the beach. Great location for boat trips and lovely bars directly across from the hotel to watch the sunset. Just a 10 min walk or 5 minute tut tut to main resort. The beach is not the best here but great daily trips to Rayley beach and other beautiful beaches. The only downside was the cleanliness, our room wasn't cleaned very well and had the same sheets for at least 2 nights, which you don't expect for the amount of money we paid.

Room Tip: Try and get poolside view

The hotel is in a good position. We will probably book again if we return to Au Nang.

Reception/Arrival
Although the staff are very friendly and helpful we were not happy in having to wait till after 2pm to be given our room! This applies to EVERYONE, no one gets a room before 2pm.

We had to give 500 Baht deposit; you are told that if you don't leave your key at reception you will be fined 3,000 Baht; if you smoke do it on the balcony because if your room smells of smoke you are fined 3,000 Baht!

Staff
Very good - no complaints at all.

Room
We'd booked a superior room with a view. We had a view of the wall of the hotel next door and it had a VERY noisy ventilation system! We were in block C which should be avoided. Block C gets their room cleaned last - sometimes after 4pm. Pay more and get a poolside room.

Food
Only had breakfast as there are so many choices outside. Breakfast was not exciting but ok.

Location
Very good. As I've already mentioned I'd stay there again just for the location. The beach and
the boats are just across the road.

Room information
Very poor. There is a folder which tells you the Internet log-in info and a room service menu. We didn't know that they had a bar overlooking the sea until we'd been there 4 days!

Resort
We were happy with the resort. Lots of places to eat and drink, laundry, etc., close by. Some good trips from Au Nang. We went on to Koh Lanta afterwards but wished we'd stayed in Au Nang.

Room Tip: Get a room overlooking the pool or in A block.

Booked a Grand Superiour room which had bushes right up against the balcony concealing a stinking river at the back of the hotel. On arrival you have to pay 500THB deposit, when checking out 3 days later we were told there were marks on the bedclothes and pine needles in the room (presumably from our towels as we'd been on the beach the previous day) We were told we'd lost our deposit and they wanted another 15000THB off us (around £40 altogether) to buy new sheets, when we protested Ms Chanpin the Manager brought the sheets into reception and laid them out on the floor in front of other guests which was totally embarassing, we protested about the amount as the sheets were quite old but Ms Chanpin threatened to call the police to us if we didnt pay. We eventually paid 1000THB and left but unfortunately had pre-paid (non refundable) for another 2 nights after a trip to Koh Lanta. On returning we paid another 500THB deposit while Ms Chanpin carried on complaining about the previous episode. Because of the amount we lost the first time, we checked the bedclothes in the new room and found dirty marks on the sheets and a long black hair on one of the pillows, after complaining they changed the pillow and said the marks on the sheets had been noted. We've visited Thailand a dozen times and stayed in varous hotels but the attitude in this particular hotel was the worst we've ever experienced - if you choose to stay here be prepared, you may loose your deposit and more.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back of the hotel have a sewage smell from the river, some rooms on the side of the hot...

We stayed for a week with no problems at all. We had room 304 which overlooked the pools and got the sun right up to late afternoon. Reading some complaints by others l often wonder what people expect for what they pay? That said, if we had paid for the rooms that walk into the pool, l think they are overpriced!
pool drinks reasonable prices and evening cocktails on the veranda bar are Ok!
Staff were very nice and polite as are all the locals we came across.
The breakfast is mainly thai with fried eggs or omelettes. Bacon cooked so much to a crisp, recognisable only via dental records! Chicken sausage, not for me. Bread, very nice, toasted with jam plus yoghurts and fruit. So if you want the typical fry up, go out for it

For the price the hotel was a very good deal. The pool was perfect, no issues at all. We didn't get a good room in terms of view, which turned out to be a good thing because the Luna bar across the road goes on loud and late. One big issue we had was with the showers. If many people use the showers at the same time, the flow can reduce to a trickle. This was a real problem for us after a day at the beach etc. The breakfasts were average, but they just served the purpose of filling our stomachs before heading out.
Apart from this, the stay at the hotel was great. The location is BRILLIANT. Away from the overly busy Ao Nang beach but within walking (or 2 minute Tuk Tuk ride) distance. Right across the road is the place to get boats for island trips. There were a number of restaurants and street food stalls around within walking distance.
The rooms were clean and well maintained. Nothing fancy, but we didn't go there to stay in the rooms or the hotel even. There were mostly families staying so the crowd was not noisy.
I would definitely go back again.

Room Tip: Rooms facing away from the road are quiet because the Luna Bar on the beach goes on till late. Howev...
