“Lovely hotel, location so so”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 24, 2013

Arrived here and at first thought "Eh", as there were only a few restaurants etc opposite, check in was quick and shown to room on the second floor, lovely room, great view overlooking the pool.
Quickly unpacked and went exploring, realised that just 5 minutes stroll was shops, bars, restaurants aplenty, there was more than enough restaurants etc to ensure I dined at different places every night, had some amazing meals at various places including street carts.

You will have read about some rubbish that had been tipped when you walk from the hotel to the main strip, it does stink a bit, but when there, there were people fencing the area to stop people from dumping there. It didn't bother me, your on holiday.....

Breakfast was ok, quite a varied choice, you won't be hungry, but the cups of tea were horrid, in the end I asked for cups of hot water and brought tea bag down from the room.

Staff seemed friendly, the room people were very pleasant and always smiling.

Would I return here, possibly if they changed the mattress as it was very firm and I had great difficulty in sleeping on it..

My one other gripe was the sun-beds, some nationalities were putting towels down on beds so early in the morning and then not lying on them until 10-30 am, so when you went to try to get a bed after breakfast, they were all reserved, but no one was actually on them, that for the first few days I put my alarm at 8am to get a bed and then went for breakfast. In the end I just gave up and went to the beach, as I didn't go on holidays to put my alarm clock on

Room Tip: All rooms seemed to be ok, but 2nd and 3rd floor have a better view of the pool. You may need to req...

We spent 4 nights at Krabi Thai Village. The room we stayed in was on the third floor-beware, there is no elevator! It was spotlessly clean, the bathroom was updated and the decor was older-dark wood and decorated in Thai design, which was very nice and overlooked the beautiful pool area. Another note-the mattress was rather firm, but I experienced a very firm mattress in another newer hotel in Thailand so maybe that's the norm?

The staff was very nice and helpful. We had an issue with a 3rd party vendor that we arranged prior to our arrival at the hotel and the hotel staff went out of their way to assist us in contacting this person. We had to go through a few people at the hotel before someone understood enough English to figure out what we needed, but, hey, it's Thailand, right?

We ate at the breakfast buffet every morning. There was a wide variety of food available and in many cuisines-no complaints from us about the food there. We didn't eat any other meals at the resort, so can't comment.

There is free wi-fi available in the lobby area and the signal seems better in the bar area. We didn't have cocktails at the bar, so no info on that.

We enjoyed the location of the hotel. It is a 10 minute walk to Ao Nang beach area and there are always tuk tuks available if you don't want to walk. Just a comment about Ao Nang and Krabi in general. If you are looking for a polished, pristine beach vacation, you may want to look elsewhere. We enjoyed the location and found it convenient for activities-boat trips to Phi Phi Islands, Railay Beach, went golfing, took a cooking class, ate at many great restaurants and enjoyed drinks at several places. For us, it was more of an active vacation place versus a place where you enjoy the hotel and pool all of the time or stay on a beach-this hotel is not near the beach and Ao Nang is not the nicest beach to lay around on. Many other reviewers noted that there are some not so nice area in Ao Nang-garbage dumps, rough streets, etc. This is all true yet we had an incredibly fun time and would recommend this hotel and the area to anyone who can take this information into consideration for their holiday.

Have just returned from an excellent 8 night stay in my first trip to Thailand with my girlfriend. My thoughts are that the hotel was excellent. We were greeted upon arrival by a very warm welcome including refreshments. The room was large, well decorated, clean and quiet. Although the room is only quiet if you leave the noisy air conditioning off!

The hotel pool was clean and very quiet with the obligatory morning rush hour to the best loungers but it never felt crowded and the trees surrounding the pool area offered shade when required but also reduced the view of the surrounding hotel which i thought was nice.
The bar area is a little limited and largely understaffed with OK prices at best. The only value you get is when you hit the "buy one, get one free" Happy Hour.
For 400THB (about £9) per person the hotel offers an excellent buffet meal around the pool area which i thought was excellent with a wide range of food to suit a variety of tastes. This i think was offered every other night.
Breakfast was OK, well stocked and fresh but arguably didn't vary a great deal but not bad enough to consider a negative.

The hotel is located about 10-15mins walk away from the main streets of Ao Nang and the subsequent beaches. Tuk Tuk's which are parked up outside the hotel will take you there for a few pounds if that. The walk however, is not a pleasant one especially in the heat of peak season and you'll be exhausted by the time you get somewhere significant. A previous reviewer made note of a dumping ground down from the hotel which is there, and does smell when walking past. Its not pleasant but after a 3 day stay in Bangkok, its minor but you will see rubbish everywhere sadly. Directly opposite the hotel are a few decent restaurants to chose from but prices are just OK even by western standards.

The town itself is largely busy with plenty of variety of street food, bars & restaurants to chose from and of course, plenty of enthusiastic suit salesmen to avoid!

I hired a scooter from the hotel reception for as good as £5 for a full day. Little in the way fo checks but its a excellent way to explore the area. The traffic on the outskirts is almost non existent but you do need be wary of random maneuvers by other motorists.

You can book excursions from the hotel and we booked the Phi Phi Islands tour (worth doing if very tourist-y). Railey Beach is gorgeous and easy to get to on a long boat at about £2 each way per person.

All in all, location was good if a little out of the way, staff very friendly and always smiling. Rooms large & clean and proved an excellent base for an amazing Thai holiday.

the location of this hotel is quiet - and the shops, beach and bars etc are a 15 min walk (along a road that is ok during the day but not great at night). tuk tuks are cheap and can shuttle you back and forth if needed. The hotel itself - good points -nice large pool area, really nice size rooms (ours was a superior) - very clean and well appointed with a terrace. minus points - breakfast is ok, but nothing special. the facilities in the hotel are very limited. The bar is very old and outdated. not somewhere you would want to spend any length of time. In summary, if it's just a nice room at a reasonable price you are looking for, then this hotel is great, if you are planning to stay in/around the resort for any length of time, you may want to look elsewhere

Room Tip: we stayed in a superior room on 2nd floor which was lovely

We just spent 12 nights at this hotel for our honeymoon. We were upgraded to a better room as a result of our honeymoon. The room etc was fantastic and very clean and comfortable. The grounds and pool area were lovely and the hotel reception looked very authentically Thai. Staff at reception do not understand English though so if you have a problem you will be really stuck. The porter and housekeeping staff have a better grasp of English!! Not great for a four star hotel who receive international visitors. The wi fi is £8 per day, which I declined to pay as I felt that was extortionate but there is free wi fi in the bar area although a very weak signal that I could never seem to connect to.

Drinks in the hotel are very expensive as they add VAT and service charge which means another 27% on top of the price they tell you. Personally it is best to drink and eat outside of the hotel as you will get better value for money.

The hotel is in a quite location but as you turn to the left outside of the hotel to walk to the main town there is a huge rubbish tip that we had to hold our noses as we passed. It was horrible! Rubbish disposal in Krabi seems to be an issue and if you go to any of the islands you will find a big pile of rubbish that they are just stacking up. Not quite the paradise you would expect!

I wouldn't recommend swimming in the sea at Ao Nang beach as the sewage outlet pipes flow directly into the sea and are visible. You will have to get an inexpensive long tail boat to one of the islands but beware toilet facilities are non existent or limited so only agree to go for 3-4 hours and take some water with you.

We would recommend the Lae Lay Grill for a fantastic meal with great service. this is just along the road from the hotel. It is on the more expensive side but worth every penny. They also take you back to your hotel afterwards. Kodam Kitchen in across the road from the hotel and down some steps by massage corner. It's plastic chairs in a car park but the food is fantastic and such good value for money.

We will not be returning to Thailand until they learn to practice more environmentally friendly tourism. Such a shame they do not look after the beautiful country that they live in.

My partner and I had much higher expectations of this hotel. Apart from very impressive Lobby/Reception area nothing else seemed to impress. Room is looking tired , in need of some paint and updating. Very loud aircon and very uncomfortable pillows. I was surprised to see room safe and the safe key we had to carry around with us...these days even smallest 2* hotels have more modern safety deposit boxes in rooms. Staff, some are ok and some you can see they are not really very motivated. Breakfast-every day same food, not even changing fruit option. Pool area is dissapointing, with fake plastic grass, rusty lounge chairs and by 8.30am no chairs are left free. All booked and reserved. I've seen this hapenning in many places around the world ...but never to the point there is no chairs left !!!?? Is management aware of this issue? I have also broken a lid from a conditioner bottle ( bottles and lids are ceramic ) and was charged THB100.
We paid but we felt this was very very wrong. Overall, I was expecting better service/product from a property that markets itself as 4*.

We stayed here for 4 nights and were very pleased with everything! The staff were accommodating, friendly and helpful. Beautiful grounds that very well kept and clean, great sized pools. Our rooms were very clean as well, one word of warning - the beds are firm. Breakfast had a good variety.
Quick 10 min walk to Ao Nang beach and restaurants/shops. The best 2 restaurants we ate at on our stay were directly across the street from this hotel - Carnivore (steak house) and Bussaba (Thai), definitely eat here!! Make reservations for both.
