“February 2012”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 27, 2012

Just returned from this resort which is ideally situated for the beach etc. Just a few gripes - arrived after staying for 3 nights in Bangkok & looking forward to unpacking & settling in. Our rooms (3 of them) were not available despite being booked Nov 2011 & we then had to go to a different hotel for the night but not on the beach & no compensation offered.
If you want a sunbed you need to be up at 7am as people put towels on them but half never show up all day!!
Rooms very nice & pool is gorgeous.
Service is a bit hit & miss but we had a few laughs about it.
Overall had a brilliant time but who doesn't in Thailand.

This place would've been perfect if it hadn't been for the inefficiency of the waiters at the restaurant. We had breakfasts, lunches and dinners there several times, and it was the same every single time: the one waiter didn't know what the other was doing. Thus, the service was really sloooowwww.
We stayed in a sea view bungalow, which literaly had an excellent seaview, and its space was more than sufficient for our family of four. Great bathroom with spa which the kids enjoyed! Evening entertainment and a really nice birthday celebration for our oldest turning seven.
And, by the way, more than a few times, people staying at the much pricier hotel on the other side of Fisherman's Place stopped while strolling down the boardwalk to ask us about the price for our bungalow. They indeed seemed like they rather would've wanted one like ours ;o)

Located at the western end of Ao Nang beach, the quiet end, but within easy walk of shopping and restaurants in the main town. We stayed in a Pavilion Suite, which are two to a building, one up and one down. Huge room with fancy patterned concrete floors. King sized bed and king single bed, both unfortunately the usual hard asian bed. Large ensuite with with bath and separate shower. Rooms are well appointed with good aircon. Large pool and beach just a short stroll across the road. Good breakfast with large variety of both Thai and Western food. Helpfull staff and excellent travel desk. Internet is not free but there are any number of coffee shops uptown which offer free wifi. Liked Ao Nang, which whilst being a holiday town is not a frenetic as Phuket or Phi Phi, both of which are accessible by boat. Enjoyed our stay and would come back.

We stayed at The Golden Beach in Feb 2012. The location is excellent. However, the hotel lacked in a few basic requirements. There was no free wi fi, nowadays this is a must. No face flannels, (why) ? No dressing gowns. (why) ? The staff for most of the time were friendly and helpful. good points are lovely view of the beach from the breakfast area and lovely clean pool. This hotel could be so much better if the small basics were rectified. overall though, we would stay again.

Friendly staff, spacious rooms, well maintained.... but the food...

DO NOT EAT HERE! My wife and I were warned not to eat here but we were too tired to walk far. In hindsight, we should have walked. I won't say anymore about it.

Other than that, everything was fantastic! We had new towels folded into different animals every day we were there. Our Executive pavilion had a view of the mountains behind us courtesy of a massive skylight over the entire bathroom. No bugs, to noise, no problems. It felt more like a vacation house than a hotel.

We were sent here by Andaman Sky Adventures and could not be happier with their recommendation.

Room Tip: Eat as far away from the beach as you can get. Also, try to enjoy some homemade Tequila from Mr. Lo...

This is a great little resort hotel. Each room faces the swimming pool and there are many garden villa's also. The location is perfect, in the more relaxed area of ao nang. it is a 2 min walk to last fishermans bar and massage area and 2 mins in the other direction to the main road. it is beachfront and the location could not be better.
the hotel front desk staff are excellent.
the breakfast is also very good, the previous post is way too harsh here. what more do you want, it's breakfast! they have fresh omelette, juices, cereals, thai food...it is more than adequate. i will criticize the food though in the restaurant for either lunch or dinner, their are far better options available in town...
the beds are a little too firm but this is a common theme in thailand i have found..
the pool is large and there are enough lounge beds and towels available.
location again is excellent, staff very helpful and friendly and is a really great hotel to stay at while in ao nang. if you are unhappy with this hotel then you are just an unhappy person...
