“If there was a heaven on earth, this place would be it!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 1, 2012 via mobile

If anyone wants to find a really good place to spend the evening in Krabi, Hilltop would be it. I found out about this place through a receptionist at the resort i stayed in. We wanted to celebrate our friend's birthday and the lady highly recommended this place so my friends and I thought we'd give it a try. Frankly, there are just too many things the place offers that I can't decide which part makes it this awesome.

Service: As the restaurant was on top of a hill, it was not the easiest of accessibility but somehow the owners of the restaurant were smart enough to deploy a shuttle service that ferries customers like us all the way from our resort to their 'hidden paradise'. The service staff also greeted us upon arrival which some restaurants don't.

Ambience: When we arrived at the restaurant, the view was just pure bliss. If you're lucky like us, you'd get a chance to witness a breathtaking sunset with the reflection of it on the coast. (Apparently, the staff told us you don't get beautiful sunsets everyday) But please arrive before 6 if you want to catch it!

The restaurant also has a patio that allows customers do things such as releasing the traditional latern for wishes, which we did late into the night sky! It could be an ideal place for family dinners as well cause I saw kids running around the patio while parents were just having a few drinks.

What topped off our night was that they actually have a singer who plays pretty decent songs on his guitar. The music was really complimentary to the whole setting.

Food: The food was pretty good and authentic really. And it was not exactly pricey as compared to other restaurants around the area. Also, if you do pay them a visit, I highly recommend their signature cocktail 'hilltop brew'. It was this blue, sweet and refreshing drink with a tinge of alcohol finish to it. Really good especially if you're enjoying the sunset with a glass of that concoction.

Verdict: Despite its inaccessibility and the occasional visits by the mosquitoes, it's really worth the trip. Value for every penny I'd say. Honestly, if I'm ever going back to Krabi, this is a place that I'll have to visit at least once for dinner! Thumbs up!

“Amazing View, Amazing Meal”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 30, 2012

Girlfriends and I hiked up the uber steep incline to reach the Hilltop. It was quite a workout especially on a hot afternoon, but the reward was a pretty awesome view and probably the best spicy steam fish with lime.

We went back again, a couple of days later, this time to view the sunset. Having learnt our lessons, we called for a pickup service provided by the restaurant. The Hilltop is really nice in the evening, when the sun is more forgiving, to watch the sunset, take some photos and just kick back with some cocktails.

“Picture Postcard Perfect - best views - great food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 24, 2012

We heard of this restaurant through a fellow kayaker and decided to give it a try. We called and made a reservation and they sent a tuk tuk to pick us up - right on time. It is high on the hill so to walk up there would be a workout. They have traditional Thai food so select several options - seafood being the obvious choice due to freshness for being in Ao Nang. Skip dessert - they were nothing special. Thai food is traditionally inexpensive, don't expect that here; however it is no more expensive then some of the hotel restaurants in town. The real reason for having a meal at The Hilltop is the view. This is a must do for the sunset. Get there early 5:30 no later - have a drink, order appetizers - get those great picture postcard photos - and they will be just that even if it has rained all day....then order your dinner and sit back and relax. You are eating outside so if you are susceptible to bug bites go prepared as you are going to be out at twilight when they are at their peak. The tuk tuk will take you back to your hotel - it is worth the trip up the hill.

“great view and food was one of the better we had”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 22, 2012

this is a great setting - take your camera. it was the most modern restaurant in Ao Nang and large. we went at lunch time and there were a lot of staff getting ready for the evening. but they were messing about play fighting and screaming and forgot we were sat there trying to eat our lunch. the meal took ages to come and we were the only people eating. nice food when it did turn up though.
