“would recommend it”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 29, 2012

This is a lovely hotel at a very good price. We had a Premier Deluxe Double Room, nicely furnished with a beautiful view. A five-minute walk from the hotel would take you to Ao Nang beach from where you can rent a long tail boat and go see the gorgeous small islands nearby Krabi. Breakfast was good and the staff's behavior was irreproachable.

Stayed at Vogue for four nights. Big clean room with big bathtub and nice bathroom and a balcony. My room was next to the street which means loud music from adjacent restaurants until 1AM. If that would bother you, try to get a room away from the street.
The breakfast was very good, among the best hotel breakfasts I've had in Thailand (outside of Bangkok). The staff is very friendly.
Tried the pool bar once for an afternoon snack. What was called a Fried Mexican Pizza was indeed one of the best quesedillas I've had, Mexico included, served with salsa and sour cream. Try it if you get the chance.
The pool is big and clean.

Room Tip: Avoid rooms close to the street if you are sensitive to sounds and want to rest early.

Dear Pontus_Sweden,

Thank you very much for taking the time to share your positive experience at our resort. I am very pleased that you enjoyed our stay with us.

I am delighted to see that you found the cleanliness room with big bathtub, nice bathroom and balcony. Khun Yutthaphum my Executive Sous Chef and his culinary team excited you love our Mexican Pizza and enjoyed daily breakfast. We rotate our breakfast selection daily.

As for lound live band music form the bar, I have contacted the Ao-Nang and Krabi Administration office for controling of the bar music sound level.

In addition, the hotel have got ear plug availables for free and we had been working to install the double door seal on balcony sliding door and entrace door for the front building.

Thank you for sharing your brief comment and hope we can welcome you back soon and impress once again.

With warmest wishes from Vogue Resort & Spa Ao Nang Team!

We were back again after 2 years since we last visited in 2010
We were pleased with our stay and the services provided
Rooms were so clean, spacious n well maintained
Beds were comfortable
Clean sheets n bath towels
There were few mozzies in the room when we checked in but just get the housekeeping staff to fix it while we were out for our shopping trip, by time we were back for the nite, no more mozzies after that
Staff were friendly, helpful n smiling always n greeting each of us when we passed by them
Breakfast spread was good but need to tell them that food had run out on day 1 of our breakfast
But on 2nd day, they make sure food is being refilled even without being told
Keep up the good service!

Great place to stay n relax with the shops n restaurants just opposite the hotel
Worth paying abit more for the convenience n away from the noise
Will be back again !

We loved it here! The staff was nice, our room got upgraded and the location is perfect! We were able to walk to the beach right from the hotel. The rooms were clean and the views were beautiful. The breakfast that was included was not amazing but was just fine. The staff was always very friendly and accomodating. We would love to stay here again next time we come back.

This hotels was a great home away from home for a few days. The rooms are big and clean, the personell very helpful and sweet, good breakfast for a great start on the day and the pool-area is peaceful and a great place to relax if you are not going out for excursions or to the beach.

Room Tip: Make sure you upgrade your room, so that you don´t have to listen to the band across the street all...

4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 26, 2012

We found the reviews on Trip Advisor for the Vogue resort helpful and we booked knowing the positives and the pitfalls, so this review is our confirmation and comment on what we found. The Vogue was one of five 4 or 4 half star hotels we stayed in across Thailand in September 2012. There are a number of positives to emphasise but also some contradictions and issues if you scratch below the surface.

The booking process direct with the hotel's operations manager was straightforward and went without a hitch. We were offered a very good rate on-line and a complementary upgrade which influenced our choice. The manager's advice received was helpful and the responses to inquiries promptly handled. We checked other booking sites and found booking direct with the hotel was the best price. We booked for 3 days with breakfast and the upgrade was forthcoming despite the manager being on leave during our stay. His replacement manager provided courteous attention at check in, offered a choice of rooms away from the noisy main street and looked after requests such as especially acquiring an electronic mosquito repellant for the room and a mattress topper as the beds, as is a norm in Thailand, are indeed hard. With no elevator the staff carry the luggage up to the upper floor rooms and must be admired for that.

The hotel's location is actually very good compared to others in Ao Nang. We researched this before booking and made the right choice especially related to the price. It is a short walk (250 metres) to the main beachfront street and Ao Nang beach where the long boats go to and from Rai Ley beach. This beach and the neighbouring spectacular Phra Nang beach are a 'must visit' for a day - fixed price and watch for the price trap on the return trip (see my earlier review of Phra Nang beach). There are great seafood restaurants near the Vogue and street food stalls every evening if that is your choice.

The hotel is in reality a 3 half star resort but is still very well priced (in the low season). This is reflected in some aspects of the room, the bathroom and breakfast. The upper floor premium deluxe (upgraded) room was spacious, clean, well kept but also rustic and somewhat dated. It has traditional heavy Thai furnishings with a four posted hard bed and mosquito netting. There is comfortable chairs and desk and seating on a large balcony with plenty of scope for drying laundry and with spectacular limestone cliff views. The balcony overlooks the pool. There are also impressive ocean views from the walkway on the other side of the room out across the Andaman Sea.

The hotel was obviously built some time ago on a slight hillside site to accommodate the views and to incorporate a shaded tree dominated inner area on the site, with some wildlife, which was pleasant. We knew the resort had no elevator (the hotel does not disguise this at all) and yes the climb to the top floor was a challenge in the heat but you soon adapted to the challenge. We choose to be at the top as this provided the wonderful views.

We also knew about the "open" bathroom / toilet arrangements in the premium deluxe rooms and having viewed both room types adjusted to the arrangements. There is a spa bath in these premium deluxe rooms. Overall the bathroom was just acceptable, it is larger than some in such Thai hotels, the shower box goes back in time to the days of rustic tiles, the toiletries are basic but the water pressure was good throughout our stay. The toilet flush has a real technique to it, it requires a double action approach with a short delay, otherwise you are inclined to think it is not working. Ask the housekeeping staff to demonstrate.

The pool was a good size with plenty of sunloungers and is located in the centre of the resort area. There are actually two pools, one for children. There is one free wifi PC in the lobby area, but perhaps the keyboard needs attention - in fact it needs a new one ! The resort has its own mini supermarket attached with comparable prices to the main street. The breakfast was very average. There are some good features but management might well give this some attention when compared with what is now offered at other similar hotels. Bacon is not served everyday and must be asked for, the hot food range, cereal and fruit were basic, bread choice could be improved although the muffins and pastries were better than some. If you ask they will provide real coffee and generally the staff were attentive and obliging responding to requests. The service at the Vogue is one of their high points - respond positively and they try very hard to overcome some of the slightly dated features and they generally succeed - we did not have any language problems at all.

We also stayed for 3 days at the Centara Anda Dhevi at the other end of Ao Nang. The two are totally different hotels - each with some strengths and particular features. The Vogue in comparison is not new, aspects are dated especially the bathrooms, it is a smaller establishment and does not have the breakfast quality. What it does have is personal service and attention, a certain quirkiness in design, the views and larger rooms, a very good location for meals and shopping, a great price for the premium deluxe room, and it is not overrun with children throughout the lobby and in the pool as we encountered elsewhere. My review of Centara is on Trip Advisor.

Thanks for your staff''s attention and service Torgrim, we hope to return to The Vogue.

Room Tip: Away from main street late evening noise and look for an upgrade on-line

Having read some good reviews, we thought we would try this hotel. Booking was easy, I emailed the hotel to confirm pick up at the airport and told them it was out wedding anniversary so I wanted things to be perfect.
We land in Krabi after a 12 hour journey and our car was not there. I had to call the hotel (who could not find my booking for 10 minutes) and the hotel then told me that they would send a car to collect us in 10 minutes. Needless to say that we were the only people in the airport, for over 40 minutes waiting to be collected. I was not impressed at all, especially seeing as I double checked the pick up by email after making the booking.
Arriving at the hotel, no apology. I asked what had happened and all I got was "sorry Ma'am". That fixed nothing.
The hotel website did not make it clear how physically exerting it was to get anywere. There are stair everywhere! We were oon the 4th floor (no elevators) which would have been better if I was not 5 months pregnant so I spent a good 15 minutes getting from the pool to my room up steep stairs and it was a 20 minute journey from the reception. If you are not fit and able then I would avoid the hotel altogether.
Breakfast was below average. Meat products greasy and inconsitant, hot food was not kept hot, slow to refil things that ran out and when they did, they were not hot either.
Thai food was nice in the hotel, reasobably priced although lacking in choice. More vegetarian options would be nice!.
Called for a plug adapter, waited 30 minutes, called again and after 2 hours we finally got one. Not what I would call very good service. Would have walked to reception to get it had it not have been for the stairs!
There was nobody walking around the pool area to offer drinks or snacks so we just bought our own from the supermarket.
The housekeeping staff were every nice and very good
The location was ok although there is a very loud bar across the street with live (terrrible) music until 1am every night of the week, you can hear all the street noise too!

Room Tip: Block 4 have the best views, we had 4303 but the stairs are a bit tiresome

Dear MrsM0nkey,

Thank you very much for sharing your experience regarding your recent stay with us. We are pleased that you liked the Housekeeping team, the location of the hotel and the Thai food at our restaurant.

Once again we would like to apologise about the transfer issue on arrival. This should not have been happened and we should have double checked that we have the flight details and arrival time.

As you mention you had one of the best and nicest rooms on the top floor, but unfortunately our resort has no elevators, but quite a few steps to walk up to the pool and the upper floor rooms.

We have noted the points raised regarding the breakfast, the long waiting time for an adapter and the service around the pool and we will make sure that we improve in this areas.

As we are in the center of Ao Nang just in walking distance to restaurants and bars, you will be able to hear music until midnight from across the street. We will look into this issue.

Thanks again for sharing your experience and we hope to see you back again by the next occasion.

Best regards,

Vogue Resort & Spa Team
