on our 3rd trip to Ao Nang we finally took the bait and found an empty table at Azzurra. located on the main strip we walked past this place many a time and it was always busy which is a good sign. I was feeling worse the wear following 9 days of chang/singha induced punishment, so needed a bit of western homecooking and get away from the spice !!!
The place was very busy, but on a negative very very hot too but luckily our cold drinks arrived to cool us down. Promptly the starters arrived, the wifes brushcetta was really tasty, my vine ripe tomato soup even better - just what the doctor ordered with a tiny hint of garlic & chilli, not over seasoned with pepper & basil as often happens with tomato soup - your supposed to taste the star of the show at the end of the day. The mains followed in good time, both went for the same penne pasta dish with pancetta in a rich tomato sauce - a tad salty and short of content apart from pasta n sauce. The thincrust pizzas on the next table looked superb tho, and for me tonights meal was exactly what i needed after the previous days excesses, just dont overdress
