There is always a queue waiting for a table here which is a good sign. There are a lot of places advertising Italian food in Ao Nang but this is the only one that gets it right. There is a nice atmosphere here, the food is tasty and the service is good (even if they are run off their feet).

Do I detect a taste of tinned tomato paste as a pizza base? This restaurant was fine when we came in 2003 and 2007, what happened? The place is full every night as with every other restaurant on the main drag so perhaps that is the reason, a captive audience, so people will eat anything.
Pasta was bland.
There seems to be Thai only staff meaning that everyone loafs around when managers are not around.
To the owners, find a way to ventilate that sauna of a restaurant

This restaurant is right in the middle of the main "drag", opposite the beach at Ao Nang.
Italian proprietor was charming, as were his staff.
Very good Italian food, although I probably wouldn't have the black ink ravioli again (I do like to try different food, instead of always the same favourite dishes).
Good house wine which was reasonably priced.

We visited Azzurra 3 times. It is an autentic Italian restaurant on the Ao Nang beach promenade.

No one 'attacks' you if you want to have a look at the menu. The servants are very nice and polite. The first time we visted very few tables were taken. Based on the reviews we had seen we took the chance anyway. We did not regret it. We ordered pizzas this time. Genuine Italian pizzas were brought to our table. Very tasty.

Azzurra is one of the few restaurants that does not have a multimixed menu. The dishes are Italian. As told we went back a couple of times later. The servants are always super friendly and again the dishes were delicious.

If I should have one suggestion, the beer could be served even clder.

Azzurra is a bit pricier than the 'eat all you can' pizza restaurants in the same street, but they can not match the quality. Azzurra is worth the extra Baths.
