“Great Atmosphere, Good Food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 2, 2013

To get to this restaurant, use the Tuk Tuk (so much fun!) cos it's quite a distance for all hotels. The food are great but I didn't fancy the pineapple fried rice that much. It had too much fragrant spices and the Green Curry was not my favourite here. Those two aside, the rest was yummyy. Try the Tom Yam Kung. Divine. And the stir fried Veges. We also tried the delicious pork and this one seafood I'm not sure of but tasted great anyways.

Highly Recommended!

“Overrated”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 27, 2013

Really expensive and just okay seafood. Perhaps best for this town but I'd go to San Ya or Hong Kong for better seafood.

“Popular, very good value, excellent food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 26, 2013 via mobile

Not a fancy restaurant. Excellent seafood. Big rotation. We had very good time. Far away from Ao Nang, on the beach north of Ao Nang.

“We've never been disappointed here”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 21, 2013

My wife and I eat here every time we go to Ao Nang. It is our favorite restaurant in the area offering fresh seafood as well as regular Thai dishes.

Also the price is right. We spend about 60% of what we do in Phuket for the same quantity of food as we get in "Krua Thara (after tsunami)".

“Hyped up and Average”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 19, 2013

Having read awesome reviews of Krua Thara, my wife and I headed off to the restaurant from the town at about 6.30 pm to avoid the peak hours. The tuk tuk cost 80 baht, and we arrived at 6.45 pm to find the restaurant packed with locals in the majority and probably 3-5 tables of tourists.

The place I would term as busy and humid, typical of a Thai eatery. There was a solo perfomer, who plays the guitar and sings popular numbers. We were lucky to find a table for 2 as the customers behind us had to queue and didn't get to sit for another 20 minutes.

The waiter was prompt to provide us with menus, and was able to provide a recommendation. Food arrived 30 minutes later which was acceptable to us.

We love seafood, and were looking forward to trying our dish. We were disappointed to find that our lobster, tiger prawns and white snapper were overcooked and the soft shell crab was salty. Probably they were cooking for so many people that quality control is more difficult.

Having been to other seafood restaurants in South East Asia, we believe the seafood experience at Krua Thara is average. We were charged 2000 baht for it. Whether that pricing is reasonable or not is subjective - as such I'll leave my thoughts out of this.
