“The mosquitos need to go!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 9, 2013

I would not give the hotel stay a very good rating, but it wasnt bad either, Hence my rating would be 3.5star. Stayed for 3 nights and definitely had an enjoyable stay.
Location-The location is not on the mainstreet, which was preferable because its much more quiet. definitely walkable to the main street in Aonang where there are many restaurants, hawkers and street shop. Just diagonally acros the hotel, you could just order a cab to anywhere you want to go.
Service - staff were polite, friendly, helpful and prompt. Definitely commendable!
The restaurant - we had daily breakfast, a lunch and a dinner at the restaurant. The breakfast spread was good but could be better although they do have variation of food serve every morning. The lunch and dinner menu was mediocre. We were dissapointed that they do not serve any local thai desert.
The room - we had the room with the pool access. It was spacious and the room was clean. The are a few low points during the stay. The staff did not replenish the shampoo and shower gel daily. We also realized that the resort seems to be a breeding ground for mosquitos. The moment we open the door to the corridor and pool, we can see numerous mosquitos flying into the room. We had mosquitos bites. You''ll need to ask the staff to prepare mosquito repellant for you. You may want to bring your own insect repellant too!

2 of 5 stars Reviewed March 2, 2013

Our hopes had been high for our stay in January 2013 at the Red Ginger Chic Resort. This was due to good reviews, the fact we had paid more for this hotel than most of the other hotels we had stayed in throughout our three and a half week stay in Thailand and also because it was advertised as being 4* . We had been staying in 2 and 3 star accommodation previously, which in my opinion, were all of a much higher standard. First impressions had been extremely good, the welcoming staff were absolutely lovely and provided us with cool flannels and a small glass of fruit smoothie. Unfortunately, that is mostly where the positives of our stay were to be experienced!

This hotel had the potential to be lovely but our stay was ruined by the dirty and uncared for rooms. As soon as we walked in to our accommodation you could tell it was grimy without even looking too closely, there were old finger marks on all the dark, chipped, wood furniture, patio doors and walls. There was dust on many surfaces and more surprisingly on vertical surfaces such as the mirror and tall headboard above the bed- which surely indicates lack of cleaning for at least months. Worse still, there were crumbs on the day bed and dried food smeared on the cushions. The immitation birdcage bedside lamps were completely encrusted with dust and the downstairs day bed lamps were stained with dirt and mildew. The toilet and shower were clean but the glass shelves were dusty, particularly in the corners. Thankfully the bed linen was clean and this was the only reason we managed to bring ourselves to stay in this hotel for the three nights that we had prepaid for. After the first night my husband complained and a disgruntled female supervisor (with no apology) showed us to another room that was only marginally cleaner. Unfortunately in that room the toilet cistern was faulty and running water could be heard continuously.

Yes we should have complained again but we didn't want to have our last few days in Thailand ruined, so decided to just get on with it, after-all the other hotels we had stayed in had been lovely. (See my other reviews).

The only positives about this hotel were that it had a good restaurant and it was situated in a quiet road but was still quite close to the shops, restaurants and beaches.

I have written a number of reviews for Tripadvisor and am very reluctant to write a negative review (my first), as it can have serious repercussions for the hotel concerned but I also think it is most important to give an accurate description for future customers/tourists to be guided by. I intend to attach photos of this hotel to add credence to my review.

Ao Nang really is a fantastic place to stay. It's got plenty of restaurants, bars and stalls but never feels over touristy. You can get a cheap ride to Krabi night market to and loads of reasonably priced trips to islands, kayaking etc. This hotel is very nice. We got upgraded to a club room as all the superior rooms were gone. the view on balcony was really poor but the nicer room was worth it. the pool is really nice, never too crowded and cute pool bar with reasonable food and drinks(recommend the Krabi drink...). Breakfast is fine and the service is very good. Free bikes too...

Wonderful big beds for a romantic stay too......

We spent 5 nights there and it flew by so you cant say fairer than that...

Room Tip: Try and get a room overlooking pool....

Lives up to the modern and chic label. Spacious and thoughtfully decorated rooms and excellent service. Particularly liked the cute and comfy bath robes and the token reward system for not changing bath towels and linen unnecessarily!

We stayed here for 2 weeks in a superior room overlooking the pool. The hotel is located 2 minutes from the beach - although the beach area closest to the hotel is not great - you need to walk along a bit. The service at the hotel was excellent, as was the food, and the swimming pool is great.

Room Tip: Get a superior room, overlooking the pool, on a higher floor

Travelled with 2 older kids. We were warmly welcomed by Kesiree Kanghair (Nong) at front desk great
professional service so thankyou. We inniatially booked 2 inter-connecting rooms which were FULL, so we
were kindly upgraded to their "1 ONLY" 2 bdr suite with a seperate living room which added to our
positive experience. The rooms are funky Asian Style with bright colours, with 3 flat screen TV'S & 2 DVD
players so kids could watch their own movies. The location is great a 7 minute walk to all the scrumptuos
HALAL Street vendours, local restaurants & Sreet clothing shopping. The Ao Nang area is sooo chilled out,
very laid back which we all liked, much better than noisy over-priced Phuket & Koh Samui. Overall a great
boutique experience for the price we paid through Agoda's special. Breakfast was fine the staff extremely
efficient & polite. The only downfall is that the BEDS mattress's were rock hard Thai style which took a
while to adjust to. There are tour companies everywhere so dont forget to do the island tours, lunch at
Railey beach next door to the Indian restaurant behind the main strip & find out LOCAL MARKET times
which is a must, the Thai food was outstanding....

We have stayed in this nice hotel several times in different type of rooms, they are all nice and clean. The staff are really wounderful, so nice and helpful.
The breakfast is very nice, it is very fresh and clean and a lot of choice.
The location is perfect, it is close to everything and the area around the hotel is very quiet, late evenings and night.
A special thanks to Rattiya and Sittipong in the restaurant and Nittiaya in the front desk, you are best!

Room Tip: Rooms with pool wiev is the best
