“Great Hotel but a little out of main areas”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 23, 2013

Just returned from touring around Cambodia and Thailand and stayed in Royal Nakara for about a week. Rooms were lovely, with great service, excellent air conditioning, very helpful staff, clean and comfortable. Breakfast adequate, bacon sausages tomato rice etc plus cereals and fruit and eggs done to taste. Pool is fairly small, and is a little cool and closes far too early at 7 pm in my opinion. After the heat of the streets and getting back after dinner, it would be lovely to be in pool, but its closed. It is down two floors via stairs from reception areas. A disadvantage is the location which is up a hill from main areas of beach and shopping. Tuk tuk about 40 baht though each way or 80 baht for four people. There is no real footpath to walk up and down the hill. However there is also access from hotel to main areas via very steep steps. Next to hotel, is a small minimart, laundry service, and a four or five restaurants. Finally found a restaurant and bar where we felt very much at home about a 5 minute tuk tuk drive away. This is The Hippy Bar, and is run and owned by Atin and his wife. Went there every night after we discovered it. Live music by Atin, his daughter and his band who play fabulous music (mostly English - wide range) suitable for every age. Best musicians I've heard live for a long time! Special request I recommend would be for band to do "Do do do" a thai song by Job to Do. Serve great food and they'd do anything they could for you to make you feel welcomed. His "mama" in kitchen cooked me a Massaman curry which is not on the menu, but they go out of their way to please you. Lovely people. Also there is a fire show after which was great. Cannot recommend this restaurant more highly. Hotel is lovely for price, however, has its disadvantages in location only.

Rooms were clean but average and good value, Pool freezing cold and not very clean. The breakfast was very average and cold most mornings but adequate. Location was a bit far away but only a 15 minute walk approx to the beach but on an unlit street. Really liked Ao Nang but didnt like the beach but the monkeys were a real treat! We went on a trip to Railay which was beautiful and a must see! The hotel is good value if looking for average accommodation in Krabi.

Thank you very for making our stay so enjoyable. Khun Mam and her team were very kind and helpful. A big smile and greet at arrival, fast check-in-out, escorted to the room, and so forth. They're more than willing to give any information I asked. The last day before heading back to Bangkok, we needed motorbike for browsing around Ao Nang. But it was quite late and the rent shop will close within two hours , plus we have to leave early. So I asked them and Khun Mam made a phone call the shop to get one for me with a cheaper price. That was more than expectation but thank you for her bargaining.
Our room was excellent, nice and cosy decoration, larger and better than we expected. Located near by the walking strip, Wang Sai Seafood, and street vendors infront of the Soi. Perfect!!!
It wasn't long enough staying there but We will definitely come back.
I highly recommend this hotel if you're looking for a good room with reasonable price but treat you like royalty.

I can not say enough great things about this hotel! When we arrived we were pleasently surprised to have recieved a free upgrade to the family suite! The room was superb, two queen size beds, a dine in kitchenette, everything we needed! The location was also excellent just a short walk away from the beach and from lots of restaurants and shopping. The owners were very friendly and more than willing to answer any questions we had! And finally the breakfast that was included in the stay was so much more than we had ever expected! Fresh eggs, bacon, rice, fresh fruits, toast, yogurt.. Just to name a few!

Overall I would definitely reccomed this hotel to anyone looking to stay in Ao Nang! You get so much more than expected for the price of the rooms!

Royal Nakara is a great place to stay in Ao Nang. It is great value for money. The hotel is modern and clean. The rooms are very large and comfortable and have everything you need. The location is slightly out of town but it is in walking dostance. Very friendly staff!

We booked the hotel based on tripadvisor review. we stayed for 4 nights. The staff was very helpful when we check-in. you can take a bus to the hotel for THB150 per person, but the bus makes several stop or you can take a taxi for THB 500 per taxi. We arrived around 9.30 am and hotel staff do all their possible to provide us our room earlier than the normal check-in time because my wife was sick, breakfast was substantial with western and thai style food, plenty to choose from the buffet.room very clean and recommend to anyone that like to stay a little away from the main street.
location of the hotel is not far from the beach.nice walk less than 10 minute to a beautiful beach. they have a lot of great restaurant and tourist shopping shops available along the street. local taxi is very reasonable. they set-up several booth that offers all kind of adventure trips, you can make a booking a day before you plan for the trip.
Very safe and enjoyable place to be.
We enjoyed our trip very much and think to come back next winter for a little longer.

Room Tip: very roomy and they provide all the amenities.

Stay 2 weeks in this hotel because it was such good value. Its a basic hotel in a quiet area of Aonang, about 10 -15 minutes from beaches and main strip. Rooms are clean and big by any standard. The hotel is family run and staff are friendly and helpful. Breakfast is basis but good. There is no restaurant or bar, only breakfast available. Wifi is ok.
Would stay here again.
