“Seaside retreat”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 3, 2013

I have been traveling through Scotland with my partner and his parents and Badachro is definitely one of our most favorite places in the world. The bay with its boats and hills in the sunshine seems like paradise. In addition we have been lucky enough to stay it the fantastic airs hill B&B. Gordon and Vanessa are doing a great job and make everyone feel welcome in their home. The rooms are charming and lovely decorated and the beautiful house overlooks the bay so you have a terrific view while enjoying breakfast in the morning. There is even a separate modern self-catering cottage for a even more individual retreat.

My husband and I have never before been to Scotland and wanted to explore "the Real Scotland" as we had been told Badachro would be. Being in-experienced with B&B's and somewhat concerned with the quality of these, I was delighted when I came across Aird Hill's website, and immediately booked it. Once we actually got there, all concerns were put at ease by the warm welcome and intro we got to the place. Our room was ready even though we were a bit early. The room, facing the garden, was small but well appointed. We settled in and went for walk down to the local pub to relax after a challenging drive on the left side with roads getting more and more narrow as we approached Badachro. Later on we had dinner that was prepared by the hosts Gordon and Vanessa and was a wonderful 3 course meal prepared of local products; langoustines, highland beef and a scottish dessert, all delicious and set in their beautiful sunroom. We ate together with 2 other couples and a nice conversation ensued. The following day a great full scottish breakfast was offered with all that it entails. The place is so relaxing that you feel like you are staying with old friends. The long trip in is well worth it both for it's beauty and what you find in this place at the end of the road. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to experience a piece of real Scotland!

We had a lovely overnight stay at Aird Hill and would highly recommend it to anyone. We were upgraded to the upstairs room with ensuite which was beautifully decorated.

We stayed for dinner and had home made fresh baked brown bread, with a massive platter of langoustines and a salad. It was a perfect end to a lovely day. The views from both the dining room and the bedroom were something else altogether. Views you could never get tired of.

As other reviewers have already said, this is an outstandingly good B&B. Particular things which we noticed and liked: we received a friendly welcome, which, at the same time, wasn't overdone or intrusive; the 'superior' room was very good indeed, but was sensibly furnished, without being stuffed full of knick-knacks (as sometimes happens, if the proprietors are over enthusiastic); the evening meal was really excellent and featured the best cranachan which we have ever encountered.

In a word, Gordon and Vanessa know exactly how to run a very up-market B&B; we strongly recommend them.

We had the pleasure of staying at Aird Hill last night as part of our touring holiday in Scotland. We were very privileged to be the first to road-test their new Superior room and had a really fantastic stay - we just wish we'd been staying for a week rather than one night! The hosts could not be friendlier and more welcoming with a home they truly share with guests. We could not find anything to criticise what-so-ever, breakfast fab, room stunning, atmosphere the best we've experienced at a B&B. The superior room really is value for money with a boutique/luxury feel and great attention to detail. We particularly enjoyed the sofa and tv area which feels like your own little lounge - coming in from a meal at the local Inn and sitting down to watch some TV before bed felt extremely cosy and homely. We'll definitely be finding an excuse to come back to this part of the world and would love to check out their Little Aird Hill self-catering as well. Thank you for a wonderful welcome!

Is this tre best B&B in the country? There cannot be a more beautiful location. While the rest of the UK was under a blanket of snow we enjoyed blue skies every day.
I came away rested and and at one with the world. What views! What peace and quiet. Gordon and Vanessa you have the most wonderful place. We'll be back.

Thanks for your effervescence J! I think you had the best of the weather when you were here and Vanessa & I were delighted to have you under our roof. Keep up the good work and we'll see you in July when you come back to self-cater in Little Aird Hill. Cheers!

Visited Aird Hill on a road trip round the highlands with two friends I had visiting from Sweden. Gordon and Vanessa were the perfect hosts and gave us plenty of advice on things to do and places to eat and drink in the area. The rooms were great, lovely and cosy after a day in the snowy, windy highlands and equipped with everything you could need. The highlight of the stay was a fantastic breakfast in the sun room overlooking Badachro with stunning views across to the mountains and lochs beyond. Definitely one of the best B&B's I have ever stayed in. Highly recommended!
