“No better value in france”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 8, 2013

Just returned from 4 nights at St. Saens. Course superb, greens true and what wonderful surrounding with all those mature trees. Not sure about other comments, but 10th yearsr on the trot in June/July and the sun always shines. The 5th is one of the most interesting holes you can play anywhere. Great variety of food if you choose half board

Just back from a 4 night stay. The room was in the annexe and would advise anyone in future to opt for the chateau to avoid the morning walk for breakfast. Staff friendly, English good ( luckily ) , food very good.
The course is tough - the 5th hole presents as no shot from the tee box - all trees in view! Not recommended for beginners as my partner could reach very few fairways from the red tees and the rough is shortish but very punishing.
We could only play 2 out of 3 days as buggies were mysteriously barred the day prior to a big competition, and I'm not fit enough to pull a trolley to the higher reaches of the course. Our provider should have been aware of this potential issue.
The weather was very wet - we'll save our money and book to go to warmer climes next time.

Room Tip: Avoid the annexe and head for the chateau.

Very nice location 20 miles south of Dieppe - rural and very attractive. Hotel has good accomodation, reasonable food though not great by French standards, and on our visit staff seemed to be very busy and only just coping.
Golf course is nicely maintained but tough - first 5 are watery, then it becomes wooded and slopey. Greens difficult, rough is punishing, and bunkers (for me at least!) impossible. Stay out of them! Liked it better on second playing.

Room Tip: Ground floor rooms in annexe do not have windows that open.

Carstairs golfing society has just returned from a two night three day golfing break at Saint Saens. Over the last 10 years we have visited Saint Saens on at least four occasions and it is undoubtedly the favourite venue for our group of 20 plus. We always book direct with the hotel where the reception team all speak fantastic English and could not do more to help organise our visit. We have visited at various times of the year and have just returned from 3 days in June where the weather was glorious. As a consequence of a recent improvement in the weather the green staff have been able to do their work and the course was the best we have seen it with the greens in fantastic condition. You will need every club in your bag on this golf course which is a testament to the quality of the layout
The hotel and food are always first class and the staff could not look after us better.
The only thing the staff cannot control is the weather and yes we have visited in the past when it was wet and the condition of the course may have affected conditions but this would be the same at any golf club.

Stayed with a group of 19 golfers. Hotel accommodation very nice, and friendly staff. Food was excellent. Golf course very challenging, especially the greens which are very fast and take some getting used to, some nicely laid out holes, only spoilt by an overly difficult 17th (well for me anyway!). Would recommend the hotel and golf course.

Saint-Saens / Vaudichon is a beautiful and rather tough golf course, about half-an-hour north of Rouen. The course is well maintained and quite varied (be sure to come with a supply of spare balls!) - worth a detour. The château has a hotel (which seems very nice) and a restaurant that serves simple and good food at very reasonable prices (about € 15-20 per person for a 3-course meal with beer). Highly recommended!

Just back from a lovely three day break in this charming location. We have visited here before and were not disappointed upon our return. We stayed in the converted stable block and the room was very spacious and comfortable. Again the food was great although we thought they could have done a bit better with breakfast - no toaster and only one coffee machine. With quite large groups staying it was a bit of a mission getting a cup of coffee in the morning. However, the dinners in the reasturant were top class and extremely good value. The golf course is challenging and the rough makes life a bit tricky. We still managed to get a hole in one on the 6th which made our stay complete!! St Saens is a delightful traditional rural French village with easy access from the coast.
