“Stop over motel not hotel”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed February 4, 2013

We stayed at Ramada with my family. This is actually meant for people transiting from the nearby Airport hotel.
Too bad they have a big propery and they can manage it better. The food was just horrible. We were promised buffet and we got a l carte. That too the choice was poor. The Staff are helpful but the price of the hotel is exorbitant for what is offered.

This hotel is fine for a quick stop. The staff were very friendly. The airport shuttle was efficient although small. We thought it was going to be close to the airport, but it is actually around 15min drive. The room was clean and the bed comfortable. We didn't eat here.

Ramada should be ashamed of itself- to be associated with such a dismal {franchise} property.
Firstly, even the location in the name is a lie- Ramada Katunayake is not actually in Katunayake. It's in Seeduwa. As the name aptly suggests, this run-down industrial suburb is seedy.
Despite the premium price, even the lobby is ugly.
The staff is sullen, grim, & unhospitable. As usual, everyone wants a tip for doing nothing.
The stench, as I walked through the room's door, was unbearable. An acrid oder of mildew & bacteria.
The neighbor noise continued unabated throughout the night.
The room decor is drab-as-can-be.
The view is of a garbage-strewn alley/courtyard.
The only pleasant aspect of the place- is the piped in elevator music. It is relaxing- though not enough to counteract the real horrers here.

The best thing about this hotel is the proximity to the airport.

We stayed here for 1 night before we left the next morning.

The rooms were OK, the bathroom was basic, the best were hard, but acceptable. The bar/restaurant was again ok, we were not impressed by the food.

For 1 night only, its fine.

The Ramada Katunayake was built in the 1960's and little has changed since then.

The AC didn't work in the lobby area though it was 32c outside at 10am! I can't imagine how the poor receptionists survive the heat with their full suited uniforms.

Hygiene is lacking, the AC in the room is loud and the mini bar sounds like an old tank on the march.

Breakfast staff are friendly but food was just OK.

On the positive side it is located just 7 kms from the airport and we paid only 500 Rupees ($4) to reach by Tuk Tuk.

There is a cheap and tasty restaurant called 'the Tokyo cafe' next door.

I was laid over on an AirLanka flight, and they put me here. The first room had builders outside, so they moved me. This second room was great. The tv didn't work so well but apart from that it was really comfortable. I just slept the whole time. I got a free dinner too, which wasn't great tasting but the restaurant looked nice. The staff were good. No problems.

We stayed here one night at the end of our trip through Sri Lanka and we chose the hotel because of the convenient location to Bandaranaike Airport. We were pleasantly surprised.
Don't stay at this hotel, if you want to go into Colombo, it takes far to long to get into the city.
The hotel staff was very nice and helpful and they let us keep our room until 4 pm with no extra charge, as we had a late flight out of Colombo.
The hotel has an airport shuttle for 1.000 Rps. for 2 people.
The deluxe rooms are equiped with everything you need and you also have 2 free waterbottles.
There is a little swimming pool and a spa in the garden.
Two things were not so possitive: the carpets should be redone urgently in the rooms and in the corridors and there is no free wifi for hotelguests.

Room Tip: choose deluxe rooms
